Barb --

I have had similar symptoms on and off.  For me, if food is making it through

the LES but not very easily such that I have significant discomfort, I'll often

get a runny nose (sometime watery eyes) that mimics an allergy attack.  For me,

the nose/eye symptoms start to subside after the food passes into the stomach,

but they do linger for a bit.

I have frequent bouts of bloating as well.  If I'm pretty sure that the pain I

am having comes from the bloating (often pretty obvious for me due to distended

and rigid upper abdomen), I can often get relief by slowly drinking something

carbonated.  It sounds counterintuitive, but adding a little pressure in the

esophagus ends up allowing me to bring up a series of small burps to relieve the

pressure in my stomach.  I think I read in another post that you are able to

drink pop, so this might be worth a try for you.  If you try this, I'd

recommend you proceed cautiously the first time since we don't know if you'll

respond the same way I do.  My myotomy and fundoplication were about 16 years

ago (multiple dilations since), and I don't recall how this worked for me

" near-term " after surgery.

I had a Heller Myotomy with Dor Fundoplication 1 year ago. Been in pain ever

since surgery, after I eat small portions I still get gas pains and my eyes

water, nose runs and I feel bloated. 4 months ago had dilation because food was

coming up when I would bend over, even 3 hours after I had eaten. Has anyone

else in this wonderful support group experienced these symptoms? Any suggestions

as to my problem and a remedy for relief? Doctors have been unsuccessful in

diagnosing my problem, still trying to find one who will explain my current

complications. My only relief is to lay down, feels better, but I can't lay down

for an hour every time I eat something. Thanks for your help.

,

I can drink soda, but have never tried this because I was afraid it would

aggravate my pain/discomfort. I will try your recommendation. I was diagnosed

with a dysfunctional stomach (along with my dysfunctional " e " )so I have ALOT of

pain when I eat, my stomach pushes food out very quickly. I am going to another

doctor April 1st, hope they can provide me an explanation to my current

complications. I am open to any help to resolve my discomfort so I can start

eating and enjoying food again, right now meals are unpleasant. In the last 11

months I have had 2 manomatry's, 1 HM w/dor, 1 dilation and 3 barium GI's.

Thanks for your suggestions.
