Guest guest
Not sure if or you remember her posts but she went in for a partial ectomy/roux en y surgery with Dr. Awais (Dr. Luketich's assistant) and another surgeon at UPMC on 2.28.11. She is not doing well and can use all of your prayers. Apparently she is in a lot of pain. But what's worse is that her jejunostomy (sp?) is not working and she can't take anything by mouth because it won't go down. So they don't know how to get nutrients in her. Her comments on Facebook are very very sad (I am friends with her) and you can read one of her notes on the Achalasia Awareness page (if you " like " it and become a memeber). She just wrote that her surgeon left for Greece yesterday (yikes) and no one else knows what to do with her?? I can't seem to wrap my head around that. She needs a miracle right now. So all prayers are appreciated! C
Guest guest
Sounds like she needs TPN feeding directly into a vein. I have had experience of this and although not pleasent it is a life saver. Her surgeon may have gone to Greece for a holiday but her/his second in command or another surgeon may have taken over her care while her own surgeon is away. I had a total ectomy done in October 2004 and have had many pitfalls along the way during these last years including using a Jejunostomy feeding tube for overnight feeds (for which there were many problems on their own). I now face many episodes of acid/bile reflux for which my surgeon is recommending a Roux-En-Y Diversion operation for which will be discussed in clinic on May 16th. from the UK From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Wednesday, March 9, 2011 10:47 PM Subject: abigail tyson  Not sure if or you remember her posts but she went in for a partial ectomy/roux en y surgery with Dr. Awais (Dr. Luketich's assistant) and another surgeon at UPMC on 2.28.11.
