Guest guest
Barry, you asked, " can you tell me what ImmunoPro is?, what it does, what's in it and where do you obtain it? " Barry, below is an article I wrote for our support group's newsletter. Hope it's helpful. (I added some additional info to the article for you on what's in ImmunoPro, which is derived entirely form milk.) More information on the whey can be found on our website, www.virtualhometown.com/dfwcfids, in the section on Cheney, Feb 1999 transcript, and the Immunocal Radio Interview. ************************************************************************ UNDENATURED WHEY: DETOX AND ANTIMICROBIAL/ ANTIVIRAL BENEFITS(Written by Carol Sieverling, based on a letter from Dr. Cheney and a lecture transcript found on our website.) In January, Dr. Cheney informed participants in his upcoming study on undenatured whey that he was switching to a new, more powerful product: ImmunoPro. Based on sophisticated biochemical analysis, it appears to be two to three times more powerful than the other two whey products currently used by his patients: Immunocal and ImuPlus. It’s also cheaper than Immunocal or ImuPlus. (Compared to Immunocal, ImmunoPro has 6 times more Laktoferrin, 2.5 times more Albumin protein, 3 times more Immunoglobulin. It contains more Glycomacroproteins which inhibit viruses and harmful bacteria, more Alpha-Lactalbumin, Beta-Lactalbumin, Lyzozyme and Lactoperoxidase. Most importantly it contains many more of the small, un-named bioactive proteins from which may be derived the whey protein concentrates effects on glutathione.) Why all the excitement about undenatured whey? Dr. Cheney’s original study with Immunocal showed it restored intracellular glutathione levels, something that neither supplementation nor injections have been able to accomplish to any significant degree. Virtually all CFS patients have low levels of glutathione. Even if the levels are at the low end of the normal range, other markers (elevated lipid peroxides, elevated citrate, depressed alpha ketogluterate) usually indicate problems with its functionality. Dr. Cheney believes this deficiency is the key problem in CFS patients, especially over time. Glutathione has many important functions, two critical. First of all, it plays a major role in detoxification pathways. This deficiency impairs the body’s ability to get rid of toxins, whether environmental or by-products of cellular metabolism. CFS patients slowly become toxic, storing away poisons in fatty tissues, muscles, organs, and brain. This cellular detox failure can make them canaries to their environment. Detox programs that work well with other illnesses can actually put CFS patients in the hospital. Glutathione deficiency needs to be addressed before a serious attempt is made at detoxification, including mercury amalgam removal. Immunocal, ImuPlus, and now ImmunoPro appear to restore intracellular glutathione in most patients, allowing the body to detoxify. Secondly, glutathione is a powerful antiviral/antimicrobial mechanism. A deficiency compromises our ability to keep viruses dormant and fight bacteria. This is why so many patients test positive for EBV, CMV, HHV6, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia Pneumoniae, etc. Indications are that undenatured whey can stop the replication of any intracellular microbe, including HHV6, Chlamydia Pneumoniae, and Mycoplasma. Patients who tested positive for Chlamydia Pneumoniae and Mycoplasma prior to the study tested negative, six months later, after treatment with whey. One packet of Immunocal, the original patented undenatured whey, was sufficient to neutralize the C. Pneumoniae and Mycoplasma. Regarding HHV6, only those on 2 packs a day of Immunocal tested negative after treatment. Viruses may require more aggressive treatment than bacteria. The traditional treatment for Mycoplasma and Chlamydia Pneumoniae is 18 months of triple antibiotics, which can wipe out a patient’s gut flora. This can leave them a gut ecology cripple for the rest of their lives. The whey treatment is much more gentle. ImmunoPro is available from NEEDS, 1.800.634.1380. A 300 gm canister is $39.95. Six are $36, and 12 $32 each. Dr. Cheney recommends starting with one teaspoon twice a day, increasing to two teaspoons the second day, etc. In the current study half the patients are taking two scoops a day (a total of 20 grams, or almost 4 tablespoons), and the other half are taking four scoops a day. Some patients may need to start with much smaller doses and slowly work up. Dr. Cheney recommends split doses in distilled water on an empty stomach. For those familiar with Immunocal or ImuPlus, one scoop of ImmunoPro equals one packet, though ImmunoPro has two to three times the bioactivity. A three-month trial is recommended to determine if this product will be effective.
