Guest guest
First off- We started 2 pep and 2 z per meal this morning. I am thinking that if I don't see any behavior changes with this dose, then I probably won't. Am I right? We haven't seen the changes in attitude/behavior I keep seeing reported from others. I am mixing the enzymes with 2 oz of crushed ice and flavoring at the beginning of the meal, and making sure they drink water also. Second thing: a question- my 12 yr old PDD/AS routinely has his worst attitude times in the mornings before he eats. Does this really seem as though he might have a problem enzymes might help? Thanks, Joan Have a wonderful day! _________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Typically, most folks are at their lowest blood sugar levels in the morning before breakfast, could this be the reason for his behavior? Low blood sugar can certainly influence mood and behavior. The enzymes, especially carbohydrases such as lactase, amylase, galactosidase, etc. can help break down complex carbs into glucose, which is what the brain uses for fuel. I hope the higher dosing of enzymes work better for you, but don't give up too quickly, there could be solutions that need to be worked out. Guest guest
Joan, Good luck! I know you are looking for a solution. I would give it at least two weeks. Then decide based on anything you may or may not see. The amount of enzymes, 2 Peptizyde/2 ZymePrime, is certainly generous enough for one meal. So, your planning is very good. We saw the reduction in headpain and stimming, etc. within the first week. The overall behavior steadily improved bit by bit over the following weeks. If anything, my kids and myself needed time to adjust to feeling better. My older son and myself particularly felt rotten in the morning, then as we got our energy going, we would be more functional. By second grade, couldn't even get himself out of bed and dressed without help. Now, he just gets up in a good mood and even does his chores and homework first. I will look for your posts throughout the week. .
Guest guest
Hmm, This has me thinking....I will make special note of whether he is hungry when he has 'meltdowns'. Guest guest
Joan, Before enzymes, my son's " attitudes " could and would come at any time, but one of the many changes I noted right away after starting the enzymes was I was no longer bracing myself for what might come down the stairs in the morning. He consistently wakes up in a pleasant mood now. Of course, I have no idea if changing the enzyme dose would turn your boy into Mr. Sunshine; but I'd consider it. > > First off- We started 2 pep and 2 z per meal this morning. Guest guest
We have to watch low blood sugar issues, always have. But we experience it late afternoon most frequently. By the way, there are chromium supplements recommended for helping regulate the blood sugar (assuming it's not swinging wildly because of too much pure carbs, which will do it every time).
