Guest guest
from Mark's site - Progressive Health News (I will try to find the issue- since I kept this excerpt for my use) **beginning of excerpt The three most important immune based diagnostic tests that will indicate if you have natural immunity against opportunistic infections are the following. 1. Natural Killer Cell Function. 2. Multitest CMI and 3. B and T cell function. While these are important tests, you may not be able to get your doc to order them. D0-it-yourselfers can use DNCB to determine the state of their cell-mediated immunity. I've used DNCB for over a year. Natural Killer cell function is measured in " lytic " units. The average NK lytic unit count in a normal healthy person is 135. A lytic unit is measured in a lab when NK cells are placed in contact with cancer cells. If the NK cells do not kill any cancer cells, your Natural Killer cell function is zero. If 100 cancer cells are lysed or destroyed, your NK function is 100 lytic units. Functional Natural Killer cells can provide you with natural immunity against cancer, viral and bacterial infections and all the opportunistic infections involved in AIDS. My NK function was very low (5 or 7 Lytic Units, can't remember exactly). Using many of Konlee's suggestions I've brought that up. I think I read somewhere that the average PWC has an NK function of 20 or less (this if FUNCTION - not COUNT). Just today I had a telephone consult with a very progressive doctor on the east coast. He was telling me that a natural function of aging is for the NK function/CMI to decline. And he said it has to be this way if we are going to die. I said - That's one of the reasons I believe CFS is really just premature and accelerated aging. He said " EXACTLY!! - I see you understand " . Most, if not all, of the markers for old age are the same for CFS. He was telling me how devastated the immune system of PWCs are and I told him how low my NK function was - he said - wow - that's horrible! That MUST be reversed. I also told him my idea that supporting serotonin ONLY didn't seem to be a good idea, that ALL the neurotransmitters should be supported with something like a reversable MAO inhibiter like selegeline. He said " ABSOLUTELY " and gave me a script for selegeline and said to take St. 's wort with it as it is also a very mild MAO inhibitor as well as an SSRI. I also get to try injectable HGH which I am excited about. Keeping my fingers crossed, Patti --

You may have shared this before but can you tell us what you used to bring this number up? I am adding some new items from MK's web site and I would love to hear what worked for you. >Just today I had a telephone consult with a very progressive doctor on the >east coast. I said - That's one of the reasons I believe CFS is really >just premature and accelerated aging. I see the connection. Perhaps the aging is due to massive free radical damage from the various oxygen molecules that are not removed by glutathione ( the master antioxidant) and the inability for C and E to do their job properly due to the cytokine cascade. >gave me a script for selegeline and said to take St. 's wort with it as >it is also a very mild MAO inhibitor as well as an SSRI. > >I also get to try injectable HGH which I am excited about. Please let us know how you are doing. I am very interested in these possible solutions. Thanks, Marty
