My attorney (and I live in Texas!) is McBrayer Sasser in Charlotte. He

is with , Gage and Sasser and they have won hundreds of CFIDS cases. He has

been the lawyer for many of Dr. Cheney's patients. He's on the Board of

Directors of the CFIDS Association of America. He will also recommend other

lawyers familiar with CFS.

In my first phone consultation he asked what questions I had, and the first one

I asked was " Do I actually need a lawyer at this point? " (Appealing a

termination of my benefits.) He outline three reasons why I really did need a

lawyer and then said, " But it doesn't have to be me. I can give you the names

of several other lawyers who are outstanding and familiar with CFS. "

I liked that. I went with him because both Cheney and Myra Preston recommended

him, and he is familiar with the tests they run and how to interpret and explain

them. So he was a good choice for me. He might not be for someone else.

with the new standards and adequate medical documentation SSD cases are

not that hard to win anymore. I won on the first try. SSD has set new

standards for establishing CFS as a disability -- it not as hard as it

used to be. So when you heard horror stories they may reflect the way

things were under the old standards. Worry more about the extent of the

medical documentation than your choice of lawyer. If you win on the

first time that mean all your lawyer did was fill out the forms and send

in the records.
