Guest guest
From: " Thorstensen " <jane_doe_press@...> Dear and Carol and all, Could you describe please () what is it about the Immunocal that is making it a godsend for you? How do you feel better? =========== basically for 12 years i had sore throats and swollen glands any time i was overtired or chem exposed. i added things that cut their duration a bit, but the undenatured whey gave me the biggest jump on basically being rid of them. i took first vacation in years where i actually had energy, and i know the undenatured whey was key for this. stayed in regular motel in western nc, and was not sick! (miracle.) however, this is not the ONLY thing i do. but it was the thing that showed the biggest boost in loss of swollen glands. now i screwed that all up a bit with the removal of many amalgam fillings at once and i have had a few more sore throats and swollen glands since the big toxic removal, but compared to what i had before undenatured whey, the sore throats of mercury removal have been almost zip. (i view the merc removal as a necessary evil for long term.) also, when i have reason to not take it, i can tell energy level goes down, glands flare up easier (i ran out one week, forgot to order, this was an involuntary not taking it, but i saw the difference within days.) everyone has to figure out what works for them. this cfids has so many variables shelley. i view it again as the 150 things on the table, and 15 of them will help you. problem is if you wait until MAINSTREAM knows which 15, you will waste a lot of years. so those of us who can experiment with what works. and so far UNDENATURED WHEY is part of what works with me. i have no idea if it is what you need. but the science on glutathione is pretty strong, and cheney is pretty reputable so i decided to try what he said. there is an article i referred to recently, SEARCHABLE AT: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov glutathione levels in antigen presenting cells modulate th1 versus th2 response patterns, by peterson jd., 1998. there is a link to pnas, proceedings of the national academy of sciences, so you can even print out the whole article. lots of it is too hard for me to understand, but the highlights i got. it turns out if you deplete glutathione whether by alcohol or chemicals, you screw up the ability of the immune system to produce interferon gamma and IL-12. and if you have any intracellular organisms, whether ebv or hhv6 or mycoplasma or chlamydia, you will not get rid of them as a person with cfids unless you have adequate th1 response, which includes interferon gamma and IL-12. therefore, as someone who KNOWS toxins made me feel worse i wonder if by having a low glutathione level and then being hit with glutathione depleting chemicals, IF I AM MESSING UP MY IMMUNE SYSTEM THROUGH LOW GLUTATHIONE LEVELS. if that is so, then i need to stay on something that boosts my glutathione levels. i have found, for me, the least painful and most comfortable method is the undenatured whey. but there are other things that supposedly raise glutathione, including n-acetylcysteine and alpha-lipoic acid, at least according to the research. i have not found that these two things turned on the light as well as the undenatured whey does for me. carol sieverling i believe was asked to stop immunocal by her doctor, paul cheney, so that she could be in an imuplus experiment, and of course, you need to wash out one product before you start an experiment. i think this is right, carol, PLEASE correct me if i am wrong. this dd is so unfair. when we are least likely to have brain power is when we need the most of it. nancym
Guest guest
, this may be of interest (I just posted it on another group to a mom concerned about a kid) ------------------------------------------------------ My 16 yr old daugher just moved in with us this fall. Her mom has FM, and Laurie, her step-mom and I have CFS ... and my daugher knows that there is evidence of it being infectious -- so she's a little concerned. We are actually concerned too, because of a lot of minor symptoms that are common with CFS (for example multiple food sensistivities) -- no fatigue yet, but often she will fall asleep for 2-3 hours when she comes home from school at 3pm. With teenage girls there can be SO many things happening in their body. Our solution was to start her on what we felt were the most effective 'harmless' treatment (from our own experience), and that was Whey [imuplus] twice a day. If the next week proves as positive for bromelain for both Laurie and me as todays was, then we'll also add that to her supplements (she is too young for aspirin because of Reyes syndrome). Progress to date has been that she has not fallen asleep once upon coming home from school this week (she started it over Christmas) -- in fact, she has started to ASK for the Whey... (excuse me - this is a blue haired 16 year old girl that likes rap), and signs of depression that were common before and during Christmas have disappeared... we are less concerned now, and we suspect that she is also less concerned -- she knows that she is taking something that she believes will help her avoid getting CFS/FM... on the non-CFS side ... she is getting good protien twice a day [and you know how badly 16 yr old eats!] and her school work has improved .... On the negative side, having three people on Imuplus gets expensive fast... yet the cost per day is less than Laurie and I going out for a Latte.... Ken ----- Original Message ----- From: G.
