Guest guest
Hi All-- Several people have asked me questions about my dioxychlor treatment which I started this week. I'll try to answer here, and offer an update, but I'm pretty out of it today, so please feel free to ask again if I miss something. No, dioxychlor is not an antibiotic, it's a chlorine and oxygen molecule. the treatment is given intravenously over 4 days pretty close together in increasing doses. The oxygen in the dioxychlor kills bacteria, viruses and yeast. Using it negates the necessity of long courses of antibiotics to kill mycos and chlamydia. However, it does have some risks: it pulls out all your antioxidants (they are trying to neutralize it) so you have to take extra VitC. I'm taking other antidoxidants to be on the safe side. It also kills beneficial gut bacteria, so you need to supplement there, too. There is a slight chance of kidney failure and even death--I didn't get numbers, but I figure it's riskier to get in the car and drive to the doctor's office. My doctor is pretty cautious--I trust his judgment on the safety of this, though you have to sign your life away to get it, since it is not FDA approved. The first treatment cost me $90, the second (which is 2 iv's an hour apart) cost $135 (I think--I'm a little foggy today), and I'm not sure about the 3rd and 4th yet--but I think they'll be about $120, because there is so much more of the drug in them than in the first. I haven't checked with my insurance yet, but I'll be amazed if I get any reimbursement. Then, I'll repeat the microscopic exam to see if all the bad guys have been killed. If not, then on to another round. Personally, I have ethical problems with longterm antibiotic use, so this procedure suits me just fine. Also, you get much quicker results. The first two treatments went completely uneventfully. I have a cold this week, so it's hard to tell if I had a die-off reaction, but I suspect I did, because I'm feeling so so lousy. I was hoping the treatment would kill the cold, too--it did for a couple of hours, then the cold came back--possibly because I'm drained of Vit C and other antioxidants? I take a little imuplus, but can't take too much because I'm allergic to milk protein and break out in nasty hives if I get too much. I'm sure it's good support for the dioxychlor. The hefty doses next week ought to do in the cold along with the rest of them. The nurse said I should notice a difference after the 3rd treatment, and be thinking a lot more clearly by the time I'm done. I sure hope so. I'll let you all know next week how it goes. I hope I answered all your questions. Feel free to backchannel me--I'm having trouble keeping up with the list this week, but I'll try to check in every couple of days--I might even be feeling better soon. in North Carolina
