Guest guest
Hi all, Here's an e-mail from our son to our daugher: " Were you just able to watch the Dateline segment on Chiari? I was channel surfing and happened upon it. The segment featured Lauri Hogle (sp?) whom Mom corresponded with a lot, a woman who just had surgery six weeks ago and our buddy, Dr. Weingart, who never returned Dad's calls. I thought it was an interesting story. Didn't really learn anything new, but interesting nonetheless. Also sort of fun to see what Hogle and Weingart LOOK like " Old experimental-listers will remember that I pasted Lauri's posts from another list both before she had her surgery and after (with her permission and encouragement). She had been diagnosed with CFIDS, among other things and was completely cured by the Chiari surgery. It was exciting to see her on Dateline last night. Dr. Weingart looked so YOUNG! I don't know if it's still on as I haven't been paying attention. The next one is about ancient oriental warfare tech. They were explaining how the Visigoths started the wars in certain parts of Europe with the Warlords competing which is similar to what I heard the Middle East has been cursed with for awhile. Did they mention how they were moving in response to pressure from the East from migrating and raiding tribes? The Dark Ages were an almost tribal era with local lords feuding over lands and grudges with a few kings able to exert control to one degree or another. The Middle East during that time was a bit more stable, but not quite as stable as some historians like to present. A few large empires controlled much territory, but much was also still like Europe of the time and there were plenty of wars between those Muslim powers. Long about the time Europe was rising up, the Muslim world began to fall and the situation has essentially remained that way ever since, and probably will remain that way for some time, provided the West doesn't fall again.
