Guest guest
I go through the same thing with my hubby. I'm with one with A but he is VERY stubborn about going to the doctor and it makes me crazy. Here's a few suggestions... Do you have (enough) life insurance? It made him mad but I told my hubby I was upping our coverage because he continues to smoke. Also, if you increase or add to your coverage - they may require physicals... Does he have spasms?? chest pains that can feel like a heart attack, to the back, up to the jaw sometimes? tell him he needs to see a doctor to make sure they are not cardiac - he can either see a GI and get them diagnosed as non-cardiac chest pains (NCCP's) or he needs to see a cardiologist - choice is his... If he does have the chest pains - most of us do, go the the post link on the upper left side of this site and check out Debbi's NCCP post. When I read it the first time (I've had A since about 1980) I cried because it was the first time someone else really GOT it. I had had the pains for so long and even my GI didn't understand. Maybe if he sees something that really connects for him, it'll help him be more open to getting treated. Please let him know that it totally sucks to have a chronic condition and we totally get that but left untreated, it can lead to MAJOR problems. I liken it to getting a toothache and instead of going to the dentist and getting a $50 filling, you ignore it and a year later have to get a $500 root canal and then have it pulled anyway. Even if he is feeling OK and food is going down, he should still have his E checked every couple of years as there are serious problems that can occur without symptoms. I wish you well and I'm really glad you found us, we're here to help. ~ in NC
