Guest guest
My name's and Im 21yrs old. I was diagnosed with A. in March '09 after just a year of suffering ( It only took one year for me to go from healthy to unable to tolerate even fluids). I was given botox treatment with no success, and eventually fitted with NG feeding tubes until i had my Hellers Myotomy in June '09. The hellers didn't work as well as hoped and further investigations are needed to find out why. I am now 23weeks pregnant, and my OH also suffers from A. He had his hellers back in 2002 with complete success and only occasionally has any problems. Although my consultants are positive that the baby WILL NOT inherit A. from us, i can't help but be concerned. I'm terrified that he will and that he will have to suffer as so many of us do. People keep telling me that im worrying over nothing but i can't help it! Am i stupid to worry?
Guest guest
Dear , You and your " OH " (did you mean " DH " ?) are the first achalasia couple I have come across. Certainly no spousal misunderstandings at " dinner time " between the two of you. You asked: " Am I stupid to worry? "  Answer: You're not stupid, but it would be stupid for you to worry. I can understand your emotions, but after your being told by your consultants that they are " positive " that your baby will not inherit achalasia, why bother yourself needlessly over something that only has a remote chance of ever happening? You and your husband would certainly recognize any early symptoms and act upon it quickly should " lightning " strike again. There are enough complexities in life we have to worry about.  To worry about something that has only a very remote chance of happening makes no sense at all, especially considering the fact of life that there are so many other things (in the human condition) that can happen, you must not allow yourself to be driven crazy about this. Obviously, you did not have an abortion, so you are going ahead with bringing a new life into the world. Think positive and cherish the joy of your new addition! ________________________________ From: didistarz <didistarz@...> achalasia Sent: Thu, May 20, 2010 8:42:57 AM Subject: Pregnant & BOTH myself and OH have Achalasia  My name's and Im 21yrs old.
