Guest guest
Had a few biopsies done during a dilation about six weeks ago and my doctor called me today to tell me the results showed Barrett's Esophagus. Is this something common for people with achalasia? Since my HM I have been on PPIs and have not noticed a lot of reflux. DR. is going to prescribe increased PPIs and scope again in three months. Tired of scopes and not sure what a scope in three months is going to do. I would think it would take longer for the PPIs to start to heal…….had a scope and dilation in January which incidentally only showed mild esophogitis and no Barrett's, a dilation six weeks ago which the biopsy was from and then two weeks ago had a colonoscopy, obviously that one unrelated to Achalasia but still another co-pay,ect…... can't afford to keep this up. Can Barrett's develop that quickly. I asked them three times if they were sure it showed Barrett's and they said yes. If anyone has had Barrett's would it not take longer than 6 months to develop? I have had a lot of food sitting in my E before my dilations in the last six months but always thought acid would be needed for Barrett's. Thanks Jeff
