Guest guest
Hi Cara, I kind of liked your checking out your lunch with a stethoscope. We should all check out our lunches to make sure that there is nothing in them breathing! I had aspiration pneumonia in 1995, and from what I can recall I had a similar episode during the night that apparently caused it. Its an infection and, as such, it took a couple of days for it to grow to the point that symptoms developed. Once that started I went right to the doctor, suspecting that it was the problem. I can't tell you what to do now based upon my experience from 15 years ago. In other words, can it be detected faster, or whether you should start on a round of anti-biotics as a preventitive before feeling symptoms. I was told back then that there was nothing they could do until they knew what it was and that I should wait until symtoms started. After a couple of days I started with the coughing and the wheezing, and went back to the doctor. I took a chest X-ray at one of the walk-in clinics, and the doctor not knowing I had achalasia, and never before had seen a wrap around the esophagus, called Cyndee to tell her that he thought I had some disease that causes the stomach to wrap itself around the esophagus and that I probably did not have long to live, but that the pneumonia could be treated! After that, I always gave my medical history up front. I don't think it would hurt for you to check with a doctor you trust. I hope nothing develops in your case. ________________________________ From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Mon, August 30, 2010 9:46:54 AM Subject: Re: Question about aspiration  Sorry for all the typos toughing should be touching lunch should be lungs darn ipad! > > So last night I must have aspirated because I woke myself up coughing. Guest guest
Cara, I also slept on two pillows always and seemed to kink my neck and then wake up coughing! Sleeping up high, can cause us to be in weird positions once we fall asleep. I have had several occasions were I tweaked my neck or back and had this muscle pain for several days, it's hopefully just that...take some pain reliever and/or put some heat on it. Sorry you are feeling bad today, get better soon. Best regards, Julee So Calif. ________________________________ From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Mon, August 30, 2010 6:44:59 AM Subject: Question about aspiration  So last night I must have aspirated because I woke myself up coughing. Guest guest
Thanks for your input Julee, and yours as well ! I really think its a sore muscle from sleeping on 2 pillows. I have been doing this recently to avoid any possible aspiration. Normally I never used more than 1 pillow. So I am not used to it. Since I can reproduce the pain by turning or stretching my head I believe its got to be a muscle. I feel fine otherwise. Glad to read that you are recovering nicely! Keep up the good work Cara > > Cara, > > I also slept on two pillows always and seemed to kink my neck and then wake up > coughing! Sleeping up high, can cause us to be in weird positions once we fall > asleep. I have had several occasions were I tweaked my neck or back and had > this muscle pain for several days, it's hopefully just that...take some pain > reliever and/or put some heat on it. Sorry you are feeling bad today, get > better soon. > > > Best regards, Julee So Calif. > > > > > ________________________________ > From: spotoca <cspoto@...> > achalasia > Sent: Mon, August 30, 2010 6:44:59 AM > Subject: Question about aspiration > >  > So last night I must have aspirated because I woke myself up coughing.
