Missed a week of email. WAS: Sister Achalasia support group

I am not crazy about that concept either. There is maybe a good side to

charging even a dollar though. It may reduce the number of groups that

get hijacked for spam purposes. Every so often someone uses a

group or server that groups are on for spam. That can cause spam filters

.net uses a spam blocker that decided that my mail from this group

was spam. I have had this problem on and off from the beginning, and I

have been here a long time not always on . Even so, I would not want

to have another monthly charge, of any amount, that I need to track and

wonder if my payment info is safe. I would guess that the dollar would

not just cut down on the less than serious but also on those, like me,

that have a low threshold of frustration with jumping though hoops.

I originally supported the move to CarePlace. I even spent good time

making achalasia content for the site. I supported it because it allowed

for member creation of resources that we can't do here. Unfortunately

they were up and running before they knew what they were doing, so they

were forever changing it. Even worse, it was too broad. It was hard to

just be part of the achalasia community without interacting with members

of other communities. There were a number of communities there for

people with mental problems. I am glad there are places to support

people with such problems. I am very glad this support group is

not one and they don't come here trying to drag me into their world. I

like that our group is completely cut off from the other groups.

We may be part of a group of rare diseases groups but you could be a

member here and never even find that out.

CarePlace also made me aware that in general I don't care for the social

networking sites. If you are my friend you probably have some idea you

are. I don't see a need to manage lists of friends and invitations to

have friends. If people are friendly I try to be friendly too. It seems

to be enough. I don't need to know every time one of my " friends " or

community members uploads a new photo of their cat.

The focus here, and simplicity are good. I would like to add a few

features. Some of that can be done on other sites, like the Zotero

library I made. We don't need this site to be everything to everyone.
