Why in the world would anyone want to eat without drinking? ;)

It's good to be able to and I can as well. That was unthinkable pre myotomy.

Hi

I agree totally with what you say and I try to pop in with encouragement

when I can as I am one of those silent ones who had success. I had my

myotomy back in 2008 and so far its worked wonders, people who haven't see

me for a while say how well I am looking and how much weight I have put on -

between 2 and 3 stone I would say, I lost around 2 stone and have gained it

all back with some extra....

I was essentially only in hospital overnight and had it not been for a

slight temp I would have been out the following lunchtime but the hospital

kept me in another night - nothing to do with the surgery and wasn't the

surgeons decision, purely hospital procedure.

I was eating biscuits the next morning and scrambled egg on toast - and this

was within 18 hrs of the op. I needed no pain relief that I was aware off

and they removed the drip with paracetamol the morning after. I took it

steady eating but was not under any strict diet from the surgeon. I had a

follow up about a month later but no tests or examinations were carried out

- he obviously had faith in his skills as I do as I am now I would say 99%

sorted but as we all know we are not cured so we have to take care when

eating which is basically chew well before swallowing and have some fluids.

To some this is very important and others not too important - for me I can

eat without drinking but as the food is only getting to our stomachs thro

gravity a drink will help wash it down and again this can vary as to what

suits you best and for me fizzy pop but I can drink anything.

Hope that gives you some encouragement...

& gt; I am sitting in the hotel room reading all the posts here... its less than

& gt; I want to thank the person, their name escapes me, that mentioned that

& gt; there are many people on this list who have had successful myotomies but

& gt; rarely post so we don't hear about them, and it is the few with issues that

& gt; share them. Unfortunately 80% of the posts here can scare you to death, but

& gt; I am cautiously optimistic.
