Guest guest
Hello Tim!!!! I am so happy for you Tim :-) If you're drinking water, obviously things went well and you have no leaks. You'll have some exhausting days ahead, but the pain relief sure helps! All the drainage tubes are horrible to try to carefully place around you, but you'll soon be up doing all of the required walking. Please use the spirometer constantly so your lungs stay clear and sit up as often as you are able. (My back incision opened up from sliding on the pillows and sweating) I know you've already experienced all the pain from your previous operation, but this time you'll be drinking and eating successfully! Please feel free to ask any questions however personal. I was in your place two years ago when I had my very successful esophagectomy. It was a rough start and I had tons of bowel issues, but over time your body will learn to adjust. I'll check the posts each day in case you have any specific questions that I might help with, and I know I can speak for the entire group when wishing you a very speedy recovery! (Well, maybe not too speedy!!!! . . . about 3 or 4 months at the least) Thunder Bay, Ontario P.S. Spend your days enjoying the Olympics and dreaming of all the food you're going to eat! (slowly and no dairy or sugar until you learn what your body will digest) Also, sorry but you have to take it easy on the coffee too. Eat lots of those delicious ice chips the nurses always bring you when they check on you! lol achalasia From: timwilson12@... Although difficult, mr maynard is pleased with things. Several drains have been removed and i have been drinking sips of water. Tomorrow he says i can try some coffee. But even typing this much is exhausting so i all close by saying that it is all done and i am ok. Guest guest
Hi Tim Good to hear from you and I am pleased that you had the opearation and that all went well. Please take things slowly and listen to your body when it tells you enough is enough (if you know what I mean). Please don't rush things as I had a tendancy to do this during my recovery and payed for it in a thousand different ways. Watch out for the dumping syndrome as this can limit the amount of food you can swallow in such a way in that things will go right through you if you know what I mean if you try to swallow just that little bit more. Take care and will read all your posts. Listen to what Mr Maynard advises and have plenty of rest and sleep. from the UK ________________________________ From: Tim <timwilson12@...> achalasia Sent: Sat, February 20, 2010 11:13:55 AM Subject: tim post ectomy  Hi! its me typing carefully as i can as i am very tired and still getting over the anesthetic.
