I had an ectomy 2 years ago this week!! Man, does time fly. Best thing I've ever

done - in regards to my E and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I still have the

occasional issue and have to make some accommodations for myself but it's so

much better than it was.

Ask your doctor how many ectomies he/she has done, how many do they routinely

do, how many ectomy patients does the hospital see, etc. Finding the absolute

best is necessary for the quality of life you're looking to get back.

I traveled 10 hours to Pittsburgh to see Dr. Luketich. He does more

ectomies than anyone else in the country. About 150 a year and for non-cancer

patients who are otherwise healthy, the mortality is less than 1 percent.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center does so many that the nurses there are

treating 3-5 a week. It was the first time I really didn't feel like a freak -

they knew what they were doing. They were surprised by my age and that I didn't

have cancer - but that's it.

Have you already scheduled? I know Pittsburgh may be a haul for you but Dr.

Marco Patti is in Chicago and he comes widely recommended. For your long term

quality of life, I cannot stress enough that you need to go to the best of the

best!!

Tonia - give me a call sometime 252-256-3843 and I'll be happy to chat away -

is welcome to call as well. Have you made an appt. to see Dr. L?

I really cannot stress enough, as I approach my anniversary - that I am SO HAPPY

with the results. It was tough in the beginning but seriously, after dealing

with A for about 25 years and spasms for over 20 years?? 6 month or so of

recovery and getting to my 'new normal' was a walk in the park.

Hope everyone had great holidays.

Love to you all
