Guest guest
I am 61 and have been having trouble swallowing for a long time. The feeling that I was being choked got so bad last winter that I went to the doctor. I was also having chest pains. I have had tumors on my thyroid and thought that was happening again. My thyroid gland was below my sternum and it felt just like this. I had an ultrasound and a ct scan and an endoscopy and various heart tests. Nothing was found in any of those. The GI said that the endoscopy looked very good for someone who had had GERD for a long time. Now things have started escalating. I have thrown up from time to time, but am throwing up more and more lately. But it's weird throwing up. I don't really empty the contents of my stomach nor do I feel nauseous. It just feels like something is stuck in my throat, I lean over and only the last thing I ate comes out--that and a lot of mucus. A dramatic escalation of symptoms started recently when I drank some tainted milk. Just as I swallowed it, I realized it was bad. I felt like I wanted to vomit it up, but couldn't. I bloated up and was miserable for several days and while that was going on, I vomited the last thing I ate at every meal. I have had considerable pain and the feeling of being choked. I'm going back to the doctor the week after next and need to ask him what to do next. Maybe youall can give me some advice about what to say and what to ask for. Maybe somebody knows of a good doctor in Louisville. I feel like I may have achalasia. I don't want to have it and maybe there is some other reason that stuff gets stuck in my esophagus. Any help would be appreciated. p.s. To the moderator: I wrote this up yesterday and either sent it and it hasn't appeared yet or canceled it accidentally. If I have sent two posts, just pick one and that will be okay.
