Guest guest
I've had extreme cold intolerance since the mid 1970's. I think it started at the same time as my major depression. After 20 years of every new doc testing me for low thyroid and then telling me I was normal, I finally found one who just gave me the thyroid. It hasnt effected my fatigue much, but it sure has helped my cold intolerance. Its real interesting going through my first winter on thyroid. I'd guess I'm 2/3 of the way back to a normal person now. I used to be paranoid of getting cold all the time, never left the house without taking a sweater or jacket or shawl in case it got colder or the AC was on too high. Its like having a new body in some ways, I dont know what to expect from it. Its kind of weird having this one symptom being so much better while everything else is about the same. Guest guest
My daughter has heat intolerance. She insists on running the air conditioner in the middle of winter. Other times, she's so out of whack that she's hot and cold and back again all within a few short seconds. Her body temp is usually low to mid-99 degrees. One of the questions that Dr. Bell asks of new patients that he's trying to diagnose is if they enjoy going to a mall. The lights, noise, even the hustle and bustle are just too much stimulus for those with this DD. Gail

Guest guest
Have you tried low dose thyroid? It has done wonders for my temperature intolerance, nothing for my energy though. Regards, . Guest guest
I find this hot & cold stuff very interesting. I first became interested when a welsh woman posted over a year ago about the benefits or soaking for 20 min in cold water. Why would this help, push more blood to the brain(he head was not immersed), take inflammation out of the system -- the just like MS theory. Does anyone else have an idea here? Others report that they like to splash around in cold water -- if you are in that category are you already feeling pretty good? Maybe this allows you to exercise without causing the inflammation that might ordinarily occur-- again similar to MS. In term of heat or cold intolerance are those of you who experience this pretty sick. When I am pretty sick (or should I say pretty and sick) any discomfort makes me miserable. Living in the mid-west I have plenty of room for misery at both ends of the thermonitor. I realize this subject is not as sex as the latest and most exotic drug or the most far out " alternative " therapy. But I find it interesting and I want to hear the thoughts of my friends on this list. thanks for listening Steve

This was a few months ago so I did not have a chance to analyze cold intolerance for the short time I was on it. Glad it can help some folks. I'm just bundling up. -Theresa
Guest guest
that's interesting-- I take armour thyroid as well. I have never tried the Synthroid. I know that Dr Teitelbaum in his book says that some people do really well on armour, and not well on Synthroid, and vice versa. If you don't respond well to one, you should try the other in his view. Regards, Re: Re:cold intolerance > From: " C.Tab. " <tab@...> > > HI, > > What form of thyroid were you taking? Guest guest
i was wondering if any of you have problems with cold intolerance? dakota complains about always being cold. granted he doesn't have the body fat he use to have to insulate. he turns the heat up in the house and being a menopausal woman i just melt into the couch. his hands and feet are cold to the touch and pale looking. i though about raynards, but his extemities will warm up when in a warm environment, so that leads me to believe is not raynards, but they remain pale. this is not a new issue. he was just complaining about it last night so i thought i'd check with you guys. he is pale and i wonder if his iron is low. thought?...angela
Guest guest
When I first had a problem in 2005 .I had a blood test and was anemic, still anemic in 2009. In my research I found out anemia goes with Achalasia. You can get treatments for anemia. I have lost 30 lbs so sort of thin, I wear a sweater most of the time when temp under 65 degrees. When I watch TV I have a heating pad on my chest with a blanket on top.In the sun I am fine! Also if I have junk in the e the heat on the chest after 30 minutes, makes the junk come up. rayme CA OC 78 > > > > i was wondering if any of you have problems with cold intolerance? dakota complains about always being cold. granted he doesn't have the body fat he use to have to insulate. he turns the heat up in the house and being a menopausal woman i just melt into the couch. his hands and feet are cold to the touch and pale looking. i though about raynards, but his extemities will warm up when in a warm environment, so that leads me to believe is not raynards, but they remain pale. this is not a new issue. he was just complaining about it last night so i thought i'd check with you guys. he is pale and i wonder if his iron is low. thought?...angela > > >
