Hi to everyone...., Maggie, Sandy, Ray, and all of you I have yet to meet.

My Mom is without a pc so I am taking mine over to her home to read all of your

similar and horrible experiences, and she is finding ALL of your ideas and

suggestions fascinating. This is so great for her to have ya'll that can Truly

relate, and she doesn't feel so alone.

Just to give you some more background...I am an only child, single, with a 17 yr

old son. We moved to " PARADISE " Hilton Head Island, SC 5 years ago with my ex

fiance'. A month later (after getting on the phone telling my parents to leave

that hole in the wall town in Kentucky and the fact that they missed their

grandson) they too crossed that beautiful bridge overlooking our stunning

Atlantic and marshy views to find that they were finally......home.

Things started out well, Mom suffered with what her dr. called E.spasms, and my

Dad had just battled and won the fight against Prostate Cancer. She still worked

as a nurse, and her symptoms steadily progressed with tests, and switching meds,

and botox. My Dad was stricken with Guillian Barre syndrome the month of

Hurricane Katrina, and in hosp. four terrible months. He made a terrific come

back.....and as you can see my Mom's health was on the back burner. Her stress

level was thru the roof, and she was finally forced to retire this past fall. As

if that wasn't enough, my poor Dad became ill and with the deadly MERSA

infection. He's still so thin, struggling with Crohn's, and needs to be cared

for too. So my parents have been hit HARD with medical problems, but I am SO

thankful they're with me, and I wanna get thru this with Mom. I'd LOVE to find a

surgeon who's optimistic and will DO something! Mom's ready to have surgery,

she's suffered so long. Here we live on this gorgeous island, summer here and

she's too dang sick to enjoy her retirement!! It's gotta stop and get better.

She has a referral to a new Gastro dr. And maybe the suggestion of trying to

contact Dr. at ville will be the KEY ANSWER, and Thanks!!! She's

gonna go to this guy and see what he says, she only has the actual films, not a

disc....how can we get that??? I know that Mayo did a series of tests there too

which was in January? I think.

Anyway, did ya'll have the swallow test and that is what helped surgery choice?

And is the myotomy more successful than the ectomy? Which determines one from

the other? I am still learning, thanks and Happy Mother's Day!!!
