Guest guest
Her sinuses are draining, but there is no sinus infection. Until this morning, I thought it was all due to drainage--now I think she may be mildly constipated also. I really detest the mineral oil " trick, " so I'm thinking of buying some Senekot for her this evening to see if that works. I'll need to check in with the ped to verify dosage since we haven't done Senekot in over a year. Last time it was 1/2 tablet & I think we may need 1 tablet a day until she's no longer constipated. I've instructed the preschool to let her drink twice as much water as she normally drinks through the day & no milk at all with her lunch. Maybe this will help. Does anyone know if Bactrim will cause constipation? She's taking it for 30 days. Guest guest
Sandi, Autumn is only 4 so that's why I gave her a couple of months. Since is older, he should catch on much quicker. A few months ago, Autumn posted a website where you can go learn more about peak flows. I think the subject line is peak flow meters, but I could be wrong. I suggest a search of the archives to find out. I'm not at my regular computer or I could post the link. Guest guest
Definitely not the chicken pox. Both Tabitha & Autumn have had them & I'd recognize them in a minute! Whatever it is, it's still there, but not spreading. He's got 2 spots on his scalp & they're all over his tummy & back. Nowhere else. So. . .I'm still watching. He's sleeping, but if he wakes up in the middle of the night, I'll check in to see how they're progressing. Ray, mother to Tabitha (age 6), Autumn, age 4 (IgG def., asthma, chronic sinusitis, and allergies), and Duncan (11 months) Are you sure it's not the Chicken Pox?? Guest guest
Sandi, Actually, I wasn't worried about this group when I sent that out. I mailed that same message to all 200+ people in my address book. PedPid can't accept attachments so you were safe. If you were in my address book as an individual. . .that would be a different story. Glad to hear you didn't get it!!! Guest guest
Tell he's welcome! I'm glad it worked. Autumn woke up this morning & her peak flow was horrible. We had a bad thunderstorm here last night, so I'm guessing that the wonderful rain (we really needed it, btw!), brought in the allergens as well. We're doing treatments every 6 hours to see how she does. Autumn reminded me this morning about drinking 7-up when she had her treatment. Amazing what we'll go through to get our kids to take their meds! Guest guest
Wenoka, It took right at 6 days for my mom's biopsy reports to be back from the lab & in the doctor's office. I would definitely call since the doc could wait until the next appt. Thanks for the support. I went looking for cars again this afternoon, so let's keep hoping. I've had this one car for 7 years & it's definitely time for another one. I just can't afford new & probably can't afford one with a warranty. We'll see. Guest guest
My mom has her last chemo treatment on 10/22. She then will visit with the radiation dr to see whether or not she needs it. She's a borderline case, so they'll probably do lots of testing after she's done with chemo. Luckily, in late July, her insurance went to 100% so she hasn't been out of pocket for the chemo & testing--very expensive! My husband's still self-employed. He's really enjoying this job more than any of the others he's had in the past. If he can just keep it up and make a good living at it. . .so far the jury's still out on that one. Some weeks are better than others. Thanks for asking! Guest guest
Ray: Please call your doctor to have the bruising checked out. Unless you're on blood thinning meds and know to look for that side effect, you should tell your doctor. They'll probably want to check your platelets at the very least. Don't NOT do it because you're too busy -- mommies cannot afford to let their own health come last, there are too many people depending on them! Guest guest
Ray, I would at least bring it up with you Doc. If it is anemia that is causing the bruising, at least you could start to do something about it. I have a rare clotting disorder, and the reason I know about the anemia thing is because my clotting problem mimics anemia. I get huge/purple bruises and don't know where! Plus, they take quite awhile to heal. Please tell me you'll get it checked it?? Got to take care of the Mom Sandi, 's Mom
Guest guest
Oh, Sandi. . .fatigue is nothing new to me, so I wouldn't know if it were new fatigue or just the same old stuff LOL! I do feel tired, but I'm working late on articles/books/research, plus just the general parenting stuff. Duncan sleeps well for a week and then wakes up constantly like he has the past two nights. This morning, he was up at 5 a.m. and ready to go! I know my iron level has always been lower than the blood donation people like, but nothing drastic. During pregnancy I was anemic, but my iron rebounded once I delivered all three children. It generally stays in the 33-35 range. I haven't checked it lately, though. I don't feel sick. . .I am running around like crazy trying to get new programs up and running at my day job. I haven't even had a sniffle, except for the occasional allergy outbreaks. I'm not a person to bruise so lightly and it has me bothered a little bit. The last thing I need at this point is to get sick. In the past, I've had problems with high cholesterol and probably still do. I quit taking my medicine when I got pregnant with Duncan, nursed him for 13.5 months and then haven't gone back to the dr to restart. Maybe that's related? It certainly doesn't ring a bell, though. Guest guest
OK, you guys! I'll make an appt for next week! I'm moving furniture into a new office building tomorrow for a program I've worked 6 years to build from the ground up. I'm not about to miss this day, although now I wonder how many other strange bruises I'll have tomorrow night. Friday's hectic too, but next week slows down quite a bit. I'll let you guys know what happens. BTW, did I neglect to mention Autumn's " almost " asthma cough from this morning. I'm checking on her soon & the preschool has watched her all day. Let's hope it's just that early morning cough & not something else. Guest guest
At one point Macey was rotating between Bactrim, Augmentin and Zithromax on a monthly basis. After the first week of Augmentin she had a serum sickness reaction and then we just rotated between the Bactrim & Zithromax. This went on until she was about 4 and then they put her on just Septra. Les is on monthly Biaxin and it's doing ok so far but may need to be rotated also because he has a breakthrough infection right now. He actually admitted this week for the first time that he was considering starting infusions. Guest guest
No, the week he quit nursing he was well. Duncan and I had a rocky nursing relationship anyway because of the reflux problems and my diet. He would nurse great for weeks & then just quit. One nursing strike lasted six weeks I finally coaxed him back to nursing but it was never the same. He would only nurse in my room, lying down in an almost dark room. The least little bit of noise & he would stop. He learned to drink from a sippy cup at six months & that was our undoing, I think. I pumped for him while at work, but it just wasn't enough. Finally, he was 13.5 months old, I went to a four day conference. I pumped the entire time to keep my supply up, but when I got back he wasn't interested in nursing. Just too busy, I guess. The chronic stuffy nose started about two weeks ago. The day care called me a little bit ago and thought he might be starting to run a fever, but he's not to the point where I have to pick him up. Could be an ear infection, although he has no symptoms yet. I'll pick him up early today and see what happens. Guest guest
, rarley has a fever with his sinus infections. He is in the middle of one right now........complains his head hurts when he jumps up and down. He is having a lot of drainage in the back of his throat, feeling very tired. I had to go to the school yesterday to give him something for pain. He has been on Biaxin for 8 days but doesn't seem to phase him. I believe he may have a lot of scar tissue due to the fact he has had 6 sinus surgerys when he was younger. He is due for IVIG next Friday. We will probably need to do a CAT scan to see what is going on...........for noww he is trying to ride it out. le

Guest guest
Thanks, . Autumn was pretty mad when we got home too. She asked if we could just call her doctor even though he was out of town. She told me, " That cough medicine won't help. Doctor tells me it's good to cough. " She's so right. The ped and the allergist both told us that Autumn doesn't need a cough syrup to stop her from coughing unless she's completely miserable and needs a little rest. Otherwise, coughing is the best way to get rid of all that stuff. She was running fever again tonight, so I know it's more than just a viral infection. Autumn doesn't normally run a temp, so when she does, we watch it carefully. Another 30 minutes to go before the next treatment and I can fall into bed for four hours. I need discuss with my husband which appointments we want for the children this summer in that area so we can align our summer schedules. Guest guest
Hi Ray, i was wondering what you did about your bed? I have a vinyl cover on mine, but I think they are still living in it and coming out thru the zipper. I ozonated a few weeks ago and that got rid of them for a while...but now it seems they are back....I WAS doing so well until yesterday- I spent the whole day in bed because I am sick- and I got pinpricks in the bed. I would ozonate it every day if i could but we live in a small studio apt with no separation from the rest of the the small living area. I am going to get a tarp and tape it all around the bed area and then ozonate the mattress tomorrow...but what can I do today? Should i put Borax under the vinyl cover? What do you think would happen if i sprayed the mattress with clorox bleach/ water? Would it eat away and ruin the mattress? Love your advice, LL --- castiar <castiar@...> wrote: > I had put borax under the sofa and a lot under the > cushions. > > You could do the same and you could even put some > under the slip > covers and still spray the top with the bleach > water. > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > For those of you who use windex on your floors,do > you use straight > > windex or do you add water?I have wood floors, > will windex stain > them? > > Any suggestions for slipcovered sofas? Guest guest
Lucy Lu- I am glad you were at least doing good for a while. My wife bought our matress cover at bed bath and beyond and it really helped but others have posted about mites maybe coming through the zipper. Some people have put duct tape on the zipper and when you get a chance you can buy another matress cover so it will make it that much harder for the mites to get in and out of the actual matress. We would just strip the bed and spray it like 3 times a day with Windex. Morning, after work and before bed right before putting the sheets on but since you are sick you need some where to lay down. If you have duct tape I would try to just do that and then spray the matress cover with bleach water or Windex and put on some clean sheets. You could always open up the zipper and put some borax inside if you wnat but hopefully you will not just be letting a new group of mites out. I wouldn't really want to chance that. Hopefully you can get out tomorrow and run the ozone generator as long as possible. I feel so bad for you but you are doing something right if they are leaving you alone for days at a time. Keep up the fight. I just looked at the mattress covers at Bed Bath and Beyond and they only have the expensive one that is part cotton... is that the one you have? Couldnt the mites get through that one???
