Hi my name is and I have a 17 month old who is about to undergo the

esophageal manometry. We are finally going to know for sure if she does indeed

have achalasia so that we can move forward with the proper course of action.

She has had her esophagus now dilated twice so that it has opened up to 7mm

total, still pretty tight though, and the next step is this test. Can anyone

tell me what you actually feel? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to

understand what she'll be experiencing so that I can comfort her. She still

doesn't talk very well and won't be able to express herself accurately, and I'm

nervous since from what I understand it can be a tricky exam. Thanks for any

info!

Basically they put a small tube up the nose and pass it down into the

stomach.  The tube will measure the pressures in the  " E " from top to bottom. The

test is not that bad and should not last that long.

I hope this helps.  If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

in Georgia.

that was good and simple! I think your lil one will do fine but they

may have a challenge with her hands wanting to grab it out of her nose. That will

be your biggest problem i bet. Good luck and keep us posted.
