Guest guest
Sorry to hear that you are having problem after a myotomy. I had a similar situation last year. I had my first myotomy (laproscopic) done in June 08 which didn't work because of a obstructive fundoplication. I went to Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion and they suggested a Re-Do. My second surgery (open laprotomy) was performed at Cleveland Clinic(Dr.Rice) on Nov 08 and I am doing great now. I would suggest you to get a second opinion from a very experienced achalasia specialist before you decide for a second surgery. Also make sure the surgeon is very experienced and have performed a lot of myotomies and re-do myotomies on achalasia patients. Ayondeep > > HI EVERYONE, > > Not sure if you remember me I was posting messages last year. > I have achalasia, I had the heller myotomy done last May 5 /08. It worked for awhile. > I ended up in the hospital in February -09. I was there for 1 week, > I was so clogged up with food they did 3 scopes plus a rigid scope > that they had to do in the operating room. I was sent home on liquids including diet coke, papaya juice and pineapple juice. I went to see the doctor on March 31 to discuss my options. She has to do another myotomy but from the left side of the chest. Now its May and I am still waiting its so frustrating. > Has anyone else had the myotomy done more than once? > Thanks for listening.. > >
