J-Tube stoma leak

Hello All

Yes the J-Tube stoma leak is worse and I now have a clear yellowish fluid

sometimes stained with whatever I last tried to swallow. The stoma site is hard

when palpatated and measures around the size of a satsuma and painfull at all

times. The fluid litterly gushes out. Example, yesterday I was putting a scarf

on prior to going for a walk and felt a great heat on and around the stoma site

I lifted my jersey up and the dressings that I had on was literly

drenched/soaking wet and this fluid was running down my tummy through my

knickers and down my right leg to my ankle soaking my knickers, trousers and

socks. This happened again in the afternoon and again twice in the night. I am

exhausted. I am seeing my General Practitioner for advice tomorrow as my GI doc

is on leave until the end of next week. What is going on? I shall need some

answers when I see my GP tomorrow. Something is going on and while it is normal

to expect a little leak (so GI doc told me last

week) it is abnormal to have such a large leak as this isn't it? I sometimes

change my dressings 15 times a day. Not normal.

Even if it is, and I would hope few would have to put up with that, it

must be mentally and emotionally exhausting. I would think that reason

alone would be enough to get something done. Unless the fix is somehow

worse than the problem it would seem that a quick fix to stop the

suffering would be right. I would let them know that you have been

suffering and that you seem to have been left to suffer. Is this what

medicine is about?

I just told my wife about your situation and she is so bothered right

now that she had to walk away.

Dear ,

Ask your GP to send you to another (recommended and well-known) hospital. Don't

go back to your own, as it really s...! You deserve to be in good hands and you

need to get in those hands either today or tomorrow, this thing has lasted long

enough. I really wouldn't care having to drive a couple of hours to get in that

hospital that is willing and capable of helping me. You need help and you get

denied help each and every time. This has to stop.

, please please please stop being patient and please please please

don't take no for an answer anymore. You've done that for way too long. Please

please please don't have them examine you in one week or so. Let them work

NOW!!!

This is NOT your fault, BUT you CAN do something about it NOW by taking things

in your own hands. GO to another hospital and let them help you. Every normal

human being can see what's going on now, eh?

I don't know you in person, so I thought maybe you are good in writing down

what's going on and maybe you're somewhat shy when you are sitting in front of

your doc? Well, maybe in that case it's a good idea to take some of your posts

on paper with you?

Hang in there, girl,

Isabella

Hi Notan/Isabella

Saw my General Practitioner this morning and he saw first hand what I have to

put up with the leaks. My dressings at the time were soaked and as my GI doc and

his team are on hols until next week, new J-Tube on order then when GI doc

returns he decides when to replace it. My GP is appalled at how bad things are

but due to medical ethics here in the UK he cannot interfere with another doc's

care unless it is life or death. He told me to phone the GI doc's office twice

weekly until I get a firm date for renewal from them and for them to contact him

to discuss the seriousness of the situation. What can I do?

Get yourself up to Casualty .

Just think about some of the stupid people they have to attend to there. Drunks

on a Saturday night, drug addicts - get the picture? People who have brought bad

situations on to themselves.

I have a feeling that you are one of those people who does not like to trouble

others or be a burden. Am I right? You are completely justified in demanding to

be helped. This is cruel and unnecessary !!!!!!!!

Get your coat on now!

Dear ,

It's nuts you have to wait for your GI to return from his hols! If I were you,

I'ld just go to some ER in a hospital I'ld know of being renowned and good.

You've done whatever you could, waited as long as you could and though it's no

matter of life or death now, I honestly believe it's so wrong and could end up

getting more and more serious if not treated immediately.

It's crazy the way they treat you over there. I am absolutely out of words where

it comes to your docs. You know, yesterday I had my procedure done. My doc

ordered to schedule an appointment in four weeks. The lady who had to schedule

(while the doc had returned to his other ward) found no time in his calendar.

She talked to his secretary and now I am scheduled for Feb. 4th, since I NEED to

be seen, according to my doc. They have squeezed me in on another ward as where

I should be, but that doesn't matter to them nor me. THAT's how they should work

for you as well, . You don't ask for too much, you just ask them to

help you and they have you waiting for over half a year if not longer now. It

makes me angry and it makes you get more and more ill. It's so wrong!

Don't stay patient, you've tried that long enough!!!

Love,

Isabella
