ProEFA vs. Ultimate Omega

I found this in the archives, hope it helps.

ProEFA is a mixture of DHA (omega 3) GLA (omega 6)

and EPA, and is the formula that will be used in

upcoming research as a result of successful anecdotal

case reports from professionals discussed at CHERAB's

first conference for apraxic children, and presented

at Oxford.

It does get confusing because there are other products

out there that are called ProEFA, but the only ProEFA

referred to in the scientific reports by CHERAB is the

ProEFA from Nordic Naturals. ProEFA is from the

Professional line, and Ultimate Omega Complete Omega

is Nordic Natural's commercial version of their

ProEFA.

Both the professional and the commercial line from

Nordic Naturals are third person tested for purity.

ProEFA and Complete Omega and are the same product,

the only difference is who they sell what to, and the

cost. ProEFA is $17.95 for 90 capsules and Complete

Omega is $14.95 for 60 capsules. You can view the

bottles, and compare costs, etc. at the links below.

PRO EFA

This is the professional line of the child friendly,

third person tested for purity form of EFA.

ProEFA is a mixture of DHA (omega 3) GLA (omega 6)

and EPA. Other products that may help your child's

communication found here as well. All prices listed

include 2 day ship cost.

Ultimate Omega Complete Omega

This is the commercial line of ProEFA, the child

friendly, third person tested for purity form of EFA.

Ultimate Omega is a mixture of DHA (omega 3) GLA

(omega 6) and EPA. All prices listed do not include

ship costs.

There are lots of suggestions in the archives here on

how to give EFA's to your child. Most people pierce

the capsules with a pin and squeeze the (fish) oil

into drinks or food, but some squeeze it onto a spoon,

or right into the child's mouth! It depends on the

child. The borage oil in the ProEFA is naturally

sweet, so more children (and adults) than you would

expect actually like the taste!! (not all-most hide

it) I had to hold my son's nose when I gave him

Efalex, which is more fishy smelling and tasting, but

he doesn't mind the ProEFA. Some people give their

child a gummy bear after, etc. Whatever works to get

the EFA's into the child, the EFA's seems to work on

the child after that!

Hello,

I want to order some EFA supplements for my 4.8 year old apraxic son. Who makes

ProEFA -- is it Nordic Naturals? Is ProEFA the same thing as Ultimate Omega?

The info on apraxia.cc says that ProEFA is the " professional " line, while

Ultimate Omega is the " commercial " line. I'm not clear on this distinction.

Any further explanation or recommendations on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jill
