Hey Friends,

Wanted to give you all an update as I am about a month post-op

(heller myo with dor fundo). I know that my first post on the board

missed a few details as I was a bit nervous pre-op, so hopefully I'll

fill in the rest of my story here.

I had my surgery done by Dr. Rice, and I was really blown away by the

care overall at the Cleveland Clinic. I'm happy with the decision as

everyone on the board stresses experience in the surgeon as the

number one thing.

However, I am a bit nervous because I'm still struggling to eat a lot

of things. Not just bread/meats/other off-limits foods, but even

some soft foods. For example, it takes me about 30 minutes to drink

an Ensure because I can literally feel it sit in my esophagus. Then

I get a bout of the hiccups until I drink a bunch of water (which I

can feel go directly into my stomach). I know that my barium test

after surgery only trickled into my stomach, but they mentioned that

it was due to soreness.

I've read that some people ate pretty well within a few weeks after

their surgery, so I'm a bit worried about my struggle with soft

food. I don't want to think about this too much unnecessarily,

especially because I had the surgery done at the Cleveland Clinic.

Did anyone else have a similar experience post-op? If not, any

recommendations on what I should do?

Puneet
