Only two really are at issue in my opinion. Advertising, alternative treatments and support. I hope the advertising thing is over, it doesn't have to be an issue if everyone just fallows the rule and avoids anything that could appear to be a violation of it. The alternative treatments is not really an issue. It has always been the case that alternative treatments can discussed in this group. That leaves support which is kind of a misnomer because there is support here. What has happened is over time various people have come here and said something like: I believe doctors are wrong in what they do, or I don't believe in destroying a perfectly good muscle, or I don't believe in taking drugs and don't want to end up taking one for life, or I believe nature must have provided a better cure which we could find if we would just live right and be wiser. You should note that none of these ideas are supportive of Heller myotomy or dilatation and are plainly against them. Personally I don't have a problem with that. People are entitled to their opinions. They don't have to support my opinion. I am not so insecure that it would bother me to find someone disagrees with me. On the other hand, when questions or facts are presented doubting an alternative treatment these same people who have made statements that are not supportive of the treatments that most of the member here use are offended that we have doubts about their treatments and accuse us of not being supportive. I support that they should be able to choose whatever treatment they wish, even sugar pills, but if the treatment come up in discussion and presented as something others should try, I think it is appropriate to examine it critically, just as we do the treatments most of us choose, especially if specific claims are made. Not only have we in this group discussed dilatation or botox vs myotomy but even lap. myotomy vs VATS myotomy. Sandy is in the VATS camp and I am in the lap. camp, but we are friends here and feel the discussion gives people a better understanding of the treatments. I should be able to have a myotomy vs an alternative treatment discussion without being accused of doing something wrong. There are those that seem to feel alternative treatment should not be examined. I think that is one reason the other group was made. The other is that there just isn't that much discussion of such things here so it would be more focused in the other group. If people want to completely leave and go to the other group that is fine. If they want to be members of both, that is fine. If they want to discuss alternative treatments here, that too is fine and completely welcome, but we are entitled to express our opinions, doubts and concerns and compare them to the treatments we choose. No amount of whining is going to change my opinion on that. notan
