Guest guest
Hi Andy, You've got me wondering here... I know things of course differ from country to country, but as The Netherlands and the UK are both European, things might be similar. Over here one is told to not drive a car (let alone a truck) for 6 week post surgery. I was told so after having my caesarian sections as well as after my myotomy. If you do drive and you cause an accident, well, just guess what might happen insurance wise... Maybe a good thing to check before going back to work. Love, Isabella Re: Follow for Myotomy Dear Andy, It should be quite a straightforward appointment. Obviously he is going to ask you what you are eating and how your weight is. Also he will want to look at your incisions and check that they are healing properly. He will discuss any acid reflux and also talk about any meds you are taking. Also it will be your chance to ask questions - when can I go back to work? Do I need to come and see you again? etc. Get the questions ready before you go because you are bound to forget something otherwise. And try to listen carefully to what he has to say. Apart from that, you can expect a very simple and informative meeting. If you are doing well, it's an appointment to look forward to and an opportunity to show your gratitude. I know I need to ask what surgery they actually did – i.e. did they do any form of wrap (apart from listening to Eminem in the theatre!) but would I expect them to normally follow up at some stage with an endoscopy to see things are Ok and do they do this on a yearly basis etc One other question, I do have a very small swelling at two of the five entry sites – I assume this is just normal scar tissue building, it’s just underneath the skin but if it gets larger or hurts in anyway I will get it looked at. Guest guest
Hi I wasn’t initially aware of the legal side but the Nurse writing the note actually pointed that out to me that should there be an accident and I had been told not to drive they would just walk away... I think I had better check though but as I say I have a note saying I am OK to resume work after 14 days so legally I should be covered. I was just about to say ‘how are the dogs’ but then I realised that’s Astrid I think...perhaps not – I know one of you across the Chanel has dogs! Guest guest
Hi Andy, Indeed, Astrid is the one with the dogs. I am the one with the upcoming -ectomy. Andy, did anyone tell you not to drive? If they don't know what kind of job you have, you might be facing issues. Better be safe than sorry. In Holland we tend to say: read the small characters... Guest guest
Isabella I have got you the right way round now... Yes they asked what my work was and that’s when they said two weeks but if I felt like I needed more time off to go back and see my local Doctor. Guest guest
OK, that's safe, no reason for sorry afterwards. That's a very good thing. But: take it easy!!! You're not healed yet, though you might feel you are. Don't just go for the distraction, only go if you feel your body is up to it. Again a matter of better being safe than sorry... Just watch yourself, OK? Listen to your body. Love, Isabella Re: Follow for Myotomy Dear Andy, It should be quite a straightforward appointment.
