Guest guest
I haven't posted for quite some time. I have been dealing with other health issues. My local GI Dr. attempted for the third time this year to do a dillitation...this was done on Aug. 13 and has held out well until about two weeks ago. I'm slowly reverting back to being unable to swallow. Yesterday I met with the " big Dr.'s " up at Shands in Gainesville. Well after all the test their conclusion is that I do not have achalasia. I have nutcracker esophagus! The first form of treatment they offered me was Viagra of all things(I am female). My insurance doesn't cover it and I can't afford it. The they started running down a list of drugs they would like to try the first few were ones that I am allergic to and most of the others are ones that have already been tried. They finally settled on Nexium twice a day(I've already tried this but took it once a day)the other one is bethananechol. That's all they are willing to do at this point. I don't believe that this is going to help much. My local GI Dr.sent me up there because the meds didn't work and we were hoping for a more aggressive approach. Well guess I'll give it a try. If there is anyone involved with this group that lives in FL and has found a Dr willing to get a little more aggressive please either post it here or e-mail me at fence80506@.... Blessed Be, Janine
