Guest guest
Hi - I am a new member of the group. As you may remember I have been having trouble with food getting stuck in my E for many years. It became worse this year and even worse in the last month. I had a scope done 6 mos ago and a barium test last week, both produced no results. In the last week, I have decided to go on an all liquid diet, since everything is getting stuck, and liquids are regurgitating, which is less painful than food getting stuck. I have an appt with a GI on 12/19. I don't think I can wait that long...I am very weak and losing weight. From this group I learned of Dr Fuller in LA ( I am in San Diego), I called and they could see my right away, problem is that I need the motility test, his testing center cannot do for 2 weeks. So, I called my regular doc asking for her to set me up for this test in SD, so I can see Dr Fuller next week. Of course, I ended up speaking to my DR's asst. who must think I am crazy! Do you have any advice on how to communicate this to my dr without sounding like I know more than her (which is how it feels in this case)?? Thanks for your help! More new features than ever. There is nothing wrong with having knowledge and sounding like you do. If they have a problem with it you should perhaps get a more understanding doctor. I would simply tell them how you are doing and that you are concerned that you may have an esophageal motility disorder and you want a motility test (manometry) to either confirm or rule it out. This is a reasonable request and with your history I would expect your doctor to honor it quickly. If not, call Dr. Fuller's office and see if they can help. notan
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice! Dr. Fuller's office was able to schedule a motility test and an appt with him next Wed. My Dr was useless! What difference between a Dr who really knows what you are going through, like Fuller seems to. I feel like a solution is just around the corner...of course I am not looking forward to this test, but it's a necessary means to the end. Re: advice for talking to the dr wrote: ...
