Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Our family is facing another medical issue. Tia's Papa, my dad, is in the hospital recovering from surgery. This last week has been a whirl wind of tests after test and bad news. A long story short, we were told on Tuesday, July 31st that my dad has colon cancer. Since he was "all cleaned out", he had surgery on Wednesday, August 1st. During the surgery, cancer was found in his liver. This means he is in stage IV. I am just so overwhelmed, mad, terrified and so many other emotions. My parents were out of town for Tia's state all star tournament so I video taped some of it for them. They were at my house watching the videos and my house was filled with happiness. My mom was clapping and cheering for Tia just like she was at the actual game. I had this complete sense of peace and happiness. I was thinking, "wow, Tia has come so far. I felt like her difficult ordeal (suffering before she was diagnosed with achalasia) was really far behind us". Then the very next night, BOOM, we are rushing my dad to the hospital for a blood transfusion because he is so anemic. The day after that was test after test, which lead to more tests. Then the news of cancer. He is recovering from surgery as suspected and we are happy with his progress. After a 4-6 week recovery he will start chemo therapy. We are trying to keep our chins up, and be very optimistic and positive. My dad is only 68 and is very strong. I have heard many success stories about cancer which is encouraging. Our family is taking one day at a time. Tia is dealing with this OK. Of course we are only giving her minimul information. She got to visit him yesterday for the first time. She was very mothering and was rubbing his hand and fed him some jello. I know this is an achalasia support group, but there are so many wonderful people from all over the world here. I could use all the support and prayers for my dad as possible. He needs strength to get him through the difficult and tough road ahead of him. I am going to find a cancer support group for my mom. She is trying to be strong but I know she is exhausted and terrified. Thank you for letting me share, I appreciate it. Sequim, WA North West Olympic Peninsula Moody friends. Drama queens. Your life? Guest guest
, I am so sorry to hear about your father. This will be a difficult time for you and your mother as well as Tia. You know by now that we support each other no matter what the difficultly and I hope you will continue to keep us up to date on your father. Please let your mother know that she as well as you and Tia will be in my prayers right along with your father. Continue to give Tia bits of information and lots of hugs. My heart goes out to all of you. Hugs, Maggie a/k/a G'maGet a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.
