Guest guest
, Considering your history I am not happy either about a doctor not familiar with your case performing a dilatation on you. I have a thought that you did not mention; either you did not consider it, or just flat out rejected it. I would like to share it with you. Since nothing is going down, one can make a pretty safe assumption that your LES is closed tightly and food and liquid is backed up, gagging you with anything you try to get down and creating that pressure in your oesophagus. If you were to have a dilatation you'd have to be pretty much cleaned out in the first place. My suggestion to you is to first get to a doctor, even meeting one in the hospital if need be and have them pump out your oesophagus. Remove as much of its contents as possible. With the suction, everything should come out within half an hour. Naturally, I would not permit just anyone to do it, but any half decent Gastro MD should be able to perform this, knowing what he is up against. Once cleaned out, I would follow that with a calcium channel blocker, such as nifedipine, or whatever you call it there, or even something stronger to open up that muscle. If you must, lie down and take a nitroglycerin under your tongue. Yes, I know, it'll probably drop your blood pressure, and all those other nasty side effects, but it should get your LES open, if the nifedipine does not. Then try drinking clear fluids and hopefully following that up with eating. You need to buy time, but not act rashly, rushing the dilitation. Please keep us all posted . I'll be in Melbourne around Dec. 20th to check up on you. >> I really should have had my dilitation a few weeks ago, but we have > major renevations going on and I had to go to a work placement so > had no time what so ever. I have had it for 2 years now since they stuffed up my Anti reflux op. I have only just got out of hospital after a 5 week stay. Not unusual for me. I have lost 35kgs to date and have had Botox and Balloon dilitations. The Botox helped at first but now it just seems like a waste of money. It is so good to finally be able to chat to someone who is going through the same thing. Every one else seems to have had a Myotomy and been 'cured'. A Myotomy is not recommended for me as the whole of my oesphagus is affected and no one does it here in Melbourne. The Botox may work for you. The way I play this game is try. Try. Try. I am in control of my own treatment a lot of the time as I am the one who knows best what works and what dosn't. I am also a nurse and just recently I had to have a P.E.G. tube because of my condition. I have also lost my ability to vomit, unless it is still in my throat, my Gag reflex is also gone and my stomach does not expand when it is full. You can try balloon dilitation. I have these done every 2.5 months. Please chat back. I would be more than happy yto answer any questions. There are a few test to find out if you have Achalasia. They are a Barium swallow liquid and solid and a manometry Dylanvillan1996@... or redrecks@... >
Guest guest
It does sound like you really need to be in the hospital for nutrition and so you dont get dehydrated but I also understand the concerns about the Dr issue as well.As said there are a few things to try to help give you a little time but it seems things are really bad right now for you. Please post and let us know how things went last night.
