Guest guest
Hi, Everyone! Jack had his Heller myotomy and Dor fundoplication yesterday, and the surgeon says it was successful and that Jack could expect a good result. His esophagus was scarred from the previous Botox injections, but that didn't result in any complications. The swallow test they did today looked normal. The only complication is that he can't urinate after the removal of the catheter, so they put that back in and he will stay another 24 hr in the hospital. He does have BPH, so I guess I need to find a support group for that next. He'll be on a liquid diet for 5 days, soft foods for two weeks, and then work up to a normal diet (fingers crossed!) I am only sorry that we didn't go to Emory first, since they go right to the Heller and don't do Botox or dilitation as first line therapy. Thanks again for your encouragement to seek out an experienced thoracic surgeon. We are really pleased with Dan . Dawn
