I found an ad in Sunday's Houston Chronicle for a new sales position @ Empi. The job is opening because they are coming out with a new device which is being marketed for victims of stroke having *difficulty swallowing*. Empi manufacturers a device which I use to control back pain. I placed a all and, get this, no-one within Empi that I could talk to this morning knows anything about this device, and I don't have a name for it.

Will let you know if I learn anything worth sharing. I am trying to get further info to share, awaiting a call back.

There are quite a lot of 'devices' similar to it coming out in the USA

and UK, 99% are for pain releif. If you read up on the SCENAR device

via google you'll find out quite a bit about it but not enough to know

exactly how it could help someone with achalasia. If it could help the

way it says apparently it helped 2 other people, that wouldn't be bad

at all. Obviously though, no research behind it and the only

references to it on the internet are a few years old coming from 1 doctor.

Hey,

TENS devices are slightly different to SCENAR devices, i'd say they

are basically more advanced but that is pretty obvious when you

compare the costs.

I know TENS devices have been tested on achalasia, I think they do

help but only a little anyway, overall not much, that's basically what

research suggests.

Anyway, I really was hoping someone would be close to the Dr Honan, it

would be great if someone here could chat on a one to one level with

him just to find out that little bit more on SCENAR treatment.

If I was nearby I would pay him a visit myself.
