Hi Tammy,

We all should eventually fall into a pattern that we are most comfortable with, as long as it makes good sense to do so. (the happy swallower), drank only a glass of water with her meal, while watching me chug away literally gallons of soda. Could I have drank less? Yes, of course. But I must do what works best for me. When you have an esophagus located south of your stomach, you don't want food to accumulate there and prevent other food from getting through.

The botox you had relaxed your LES. I'm not aware of it doing anything for the main part of your esophagus. Thus, it is mostly gravity that gets the food down. Will it go down fine on its own, or will it go down better with fluids? Why was the barium getting backed up in your system. You have to see, maybe by experimenting, what works best for you.

I am very impressed with all the posts about Esophagectomy. Barb and

really said a lot to think about, how this major surgery affects their lives, recuperation

time, other important things to consider.

I had a barium swallow last week and it showed that my A. is getting nastier again.

I am thinking that if it keeps on being nasty, I'll ask for botox or a dilation. And then

perhaps, we'll see how this goes. Dr. Fuller told me, in our office meeting, that

eventually this esophagus of mine might need the esophagectomy. So, it's good

to read about your experiences, and I thank you for them.

Haven't spoken to you in a long time. Hope you are doing well. I am 4 years

post myotomy. Still have problems. Full after very small meal and spasms

occurring whenever. Guess it's better than before. Would love to hear from

you. Tammy
