Guest guest
Tonia, Hmmm could just be something got pulled a little. Watch for any raising of the incision as it could be a hernia of part of the incision. That would be my only two guesses!!! What test can they do to see if everything from the operation is ok? This is the only problem with having a surgeon 8 hours away-you cant just jump in the car and go make a appointment! Guest guest
Tonia, he could have just pulled something or that is just how the healing is going. I still get a pain on my left side ribs and I was told is was all ok. Look for any swelling that is red and feels warm to the touch. If that is occuring then it could be an infection occuring. Most doctors can tell if there is a problem post surgery even if they do not know much about the surgery. The can feel around and see if things are healing correctly and if there is a heria or an infection setting in. They can also do an mri or ct scan if they feel there is a need for that. in georgia.toniasdogsandi <toniasdogsandi@...> wrote: The past few days he has been complaining of a small area to the left of his incision hurting. When he coughs, sneezes etc he says the pain is bad but then goes away.He also said that it feels swollen and the pain is getting wrose by the day and staying with him longer.I dont know if he pulled a muscle or what. When he moves it hurts and sometimes just a sharp pain but constant ache.He had been taking quit a bit of advil the past few days.I am starting to get scared now as I see he is too.I want to think its only things healing or such but why a month later with pain and stuff. It all kinda started one day when he sneezed really hard.He is starting to get a cold and was also coughing.I called the DR when this first happened and the nurse said yes things will be sore and pull when he coughs and such.Gosh, I just hope everything is ok.How is the local Dr here going to be able to know this? Guest guest
Talked to Dr Rice-he said more than likely pulled a stich and it was fine and not un normal.Apply heat, take tylenol, and continue to rest.Only problem or concerns if area gets a knot, becomes red,and feels hot. Then he would need to see . I am still very concerned but DR Rice seemed like it was no big deal what so ever.I can tell is worried too cause he keeps saying " I hope DR Rice is right " .I will be sooooo glad when all this healing process is over and normalcy returns.Or will it ever..... Guest guest
Hey Tonia, Take a step back and take a deep breath. Now, think about all that you and have been through in the past year. Of course is worried, and of course you are too….you guys want things to be over so he can get back to a normal 13 year old boy’s life. The biggest fear in your heads is probably that something is wrong and you will have to deal with more problems. Understandably so. Now take another step back and remember that Dr. Rice is the best. He knows what he is talking about, and while it is a bit nerve wracking that he is telling you what he thinks without seeing , he also knows what to look for. He would not steer you wrong, and if there was any question he would definitely want to see him. So you need to keep an eye on and his symptoms, and follow Dr. Rice’s advice and see what happens. It sounds like everything is probably fine and he did either pull something or overdid it somehow. Give my best and try not to worry too much. Guest guest
Of course I understand…..but you have to trust Dr. Rice, otherwise you will drive yourself insane. Things are good. I have just been getting the insurance approvals all set to go back to see Dr. Rice for the testing. We decided that with the holidays and my husband’s crazy work schedule this month (he’s working on some proposal and has been putting in a lot of extra hours) that we would wait to go back until January. Otherwise all is well, just trying to get stuff in order for the holidays!
