EGD with Savory Dilation

Hi, all!

I want to start with saying I'm happy to hear our members who've

had surgery recently are recovering so well! Also, to , it

sounds like Tia is in good hands. I'm hoping her surgery goes

smoothly and that it brings her MANY, MANY years of relief!

Today, had an EGD done by our local gastro. doc. The doc

said he did a dilation, so I right away asked if it was balloon or

savory. He said savory and I think 54? Does anyone know, does that

refer to the size, like balloon dilators come in different sizes?

Anyway, I asked him where in the E he dilated and he said that the

savory does the whole length of the E. I never knew they worked that

way. I know that it's a much milder dilation than with the balloon,

though, because 's had that before and it didn't do much.

At his last EGD last year, he had a few spots with some

irritation, which they biopsied. We were a little worried that he was

getting some reflux and that he might have some more irritation going

on this time, the good news is that the tissue in there looked

healthy. I asked him if he wanted to see a neurologist (like he

hinted at at 's office visit last week) and he said it might not

be a bad idea. That makes sense to me, but I don't know if the

neurologists even know a lot about E motility disorders (let alone

have any tricks yet to treat it). I'll keep you posted if he does go

and if this doc has any special tricks up her sleeve.

Have a great day, everyone!
