Guest guest
Hi All - going to LA for tests in a few weeks. I am having a motility study, endoscopy, and barium swallow. Plus a 24-hour Ph test where they stick the tube down your nose to measure the acid in your stomach. Anyone have this before? If so, helpful tips or thoughts about 24-hours (without being in the hospital) with a tube down your throat? Regards and Happy Holidays to all! Guest guest
Yes, i had this done in November. The wire that goes inside (thru nose/throat to esop..) is much thinner than the mammometry wire. Initially, you will feel uncomfortable and then get used to it. The hard part is carrying the small (CD walk-man like) box across your neck/shoulder. Neck starts to hurt a bit. After pushing the buttons for 24 hrs (Except when you sleep), you get used to it and will look for the box the next day to punch the buttons (after the box is removed).During the test period, I actually felt better from regurgitation (may be the wire opened some path for food) and I burbed/belched too many times than usual.I stayed off work and worked from home during that day.If you have any other questions do let me know. Guest guest
Hi My names I live in the UK, I had what seemed like a list of tests to prove I had achalasia including the little number your going for. The tube they place up the nose isn't too bad, I did have a sore nose for a couple of days after, as it had made a little cut at the tip. I also had a sore throat the day the tube came out. Other than that it wasn't too bad. I was scared to eat and must admit it was tea time before i tried something when I had the tube in, but it's ok, and I'm sure you will be fine. Hope it all goes well Mel
