It is such a blessing to read how well everything went and that so soon after the surgery feel the "miracle" of food and liquid going straight through to your stomach. Rest up Manny, life should only get better for you now.

Dear Manny, It is so good to hear from you in person. Our dear has been keeping us up-dated and it was nice to know how things were going for you. It is so great to get back home afterwards isn't it? I bet you can't believe it's all over. Now is the time to play your own main part in this. Please be pro-active in your recovery. Go easy on the food you choose to eat. I am a little worried about the turkey. I honestly would not be getting into that for a few weeks yet. I am not meaning to nag you at you (maybe I am) but having done so well myself I want everyone else to share the success. These are the 3 things that helped me, the 3 cardinal rules if you like: 1)

Sloppy food for 4 weeks (no cheating) 2) No lifting 3) Chest and breathing exercises Two of your biggest allies now are water and deep breathing. Day by day you will see and reap the benefits. Its really good to hear from you so soon after your surgery, take

things easy for a while and have a look at the diet sheet informaion

that I posted earlier its a link that Caroline sent me after my

surgery and shows eight pages of food recommended after Nissan

Fundoplication surgery.

It well worth the look.

Manny, please don't rush the back to work thing.

I know you are young and heal faster, but there

might be small scars on the outside but you have

stitches inside that you can't see. Give it time.

I don't know what you do, but it doesn't matter,

there is a lot of difference in feeling good laying

around the house than it will be back at work. If

you can take the time do. A week is just not long

enough.

Thanks, I'm doing well but best of all is I'm not taking any pain

Meds or any other medications, the only think I'm starting to take

every night is an OTC anti acid as recommended by Dr. Salky the

surgeon, he said I will be taking it for a very long time, but that

is better than the alternative. The Doctor did say that if I feel any

pain that I can't tolerate I should take Tylenol.

In one of your previous posts you said

" I think I'm more afraid

of the anesthesia than anything. My surgeon says surgery will last

approx. 3 hours. Also concerned about recovery time--doctor says 2

weeks off work. Hoping it will be quicker. "

You should talk with your surgeon about all your concerns and talk

with your regular Physician, he should know you better than any other

doctor.

I was also very afraid about the anesthesia and about the recovery

time but let me tell you besides feeling bloated, some discomfort on

my stomach area and not to be able to take a full shower I feel

great. I have been walking around (Not Driving); the doctors say that

it is a good thing since It makes your blood flow. I also have been

eating very small soft meals and drinking small amounts of water, it

feels great.

About getting back to work I think that your body will tell you when

you are ready to go back, the way I'm feeling I think I will be able

to go back next week but it all depends how I feel Sunday night, If I

feel I need a few extra days I will wait.

I wish you the best, and don't forget that we will be here for you

when you need.

This is a time to be kind to yourself, not to your employers. PLEASE take another week off. Hi Manny thats good news that you have decided to stay of work for a

bit longer.

Although you may feel great your body still has a lot of healing to

do and resting at home will give your body time to get over your

surgery.

I know you maybe itching to get back to work but your health comes

first.

What would me and you do without Ann (I call her Mummy Ann in our

private e-mails) and Maggie who have been a great help to me through

my recent surgery (also I have to say and have been

fantastic I have bombarded them with so many questions)

Sometimes us yougsters!! need the older a wiser person to step in

and tell us what we should and should not be doing to make us see

that yes infact they are right. Ann has told me off (she calls it

nagging don't you Ann) a couple of times in the past few months and

I have listened and done as I have been told I am very grateful that

I listened.

So keep listerning to Auntie Ann and Grandma Maggie they know best

belive me.
