You have already taken the 1st step by calling early intervention (birth - 3) and now it is time for step #2. Find a good neurodevelopmental pediatrician in your area and get your child evaluated. This will accomplish a few things: It will confirm your diagnosis, rule out any other problems that could have been missed, and get you ready to face your school district when you child transitions at 3. The neurodevelopmental pediatrician will evaluate your child's developmental progress in all areas. You will be asked many questions about when your child hit milestones, past and current behavior, etc. The doctor will also play with your child using various toys, i.e., puzzles, books, beads, blocks, peg boards, etc. There will also be a brief physical exam. The exam usually takes a few hours (including the " intake " interview) but is worth the time and energy. I also recommend reading, reading, and more reading, as the more you know, the better you will be able to advocate for your child! Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions you might have!
