Guest guest
a nitrate? speeding up heart rate by amyl or butyl nitrates can also cause cell mutations.. usually a pill under the tongue for those prone to cardiac episodes. I guess a muscle relaxer would work if you can keep remembering to breathe. I don't know. much faster than HCL. > > Yesterday I was offered a drug fo A not sure what it was called but it > began with an N which is used to heart problems and is used in the US > (and been proven helpful)for A because it has the effect of relaxing > the muscels in the E to allow food to go down but is not licenced for > A in the UK. > > But it has side effects of lowering your blood pressure and headaches > and as mine was 110 over 60 it was already low so I chose not to take > the drugs. > > Has anyone taken simmilar drugs and how efective are they. Guest guest
I think it's Nifedine .. It reduces blood pressure .. Mukesh Drugs offered but not licenced for A in UK Yesterday I was offered a drug fo A not sure what it was called but it began with an N which is used to heart problems and is used in the US (and been proven helpful)for A because it has the effect of relaxing the muscels in the E to allow food to go down but is not licenced for A in the UK. But it has side effects of lowering your blood pressure and headaches and as mine was 110 over 60 it was already low so I chose not to take the drugs. Has anyone taken simmilar drugs and how efective are they. They hope to try me on them on friday 4 days before my Hellers Myotomy to try and clear My E before surgery. Guest guest
Pippa, that would probably be Nifedipine. Another one that helps most people with achalasia is isosorbide dinitrate. Both relax the sphincter when taken before meals, but may have unpleasant side effects like headache and swollen feet. (Also, they tend to stop working after some time, perhaps only a few months in some cases.) Isosorbide dinitrate works faster and helps more people with A than nifedipine, but it tends to have worse side effects for most people. However, my son used it with every meal with no side effects for some time before his surgery. It is unfortunate that you kept getting the wrong diagnosis, and now there's more of a rush. It must be terribly stressful for you. Perhaps a prescription for Nifedipine or isosorbide dinitrate (or even a dilation) would help to give you time. To answer your other question: My son's surgery took two hours including myotomy and fundoplication. Good luck! in Lancaster, PA Drugs offered but not licenced for A in UK > Yesterday I was offered a drug fo A not sure what it was called > but it > began with an N which is used to heart problems and is used in > the US > (and been proven helpful)for A because it has the effect of > relaxing > the muscels in the E to allow food to go down but is not > licenced for > A in the UK. > > But it has side effects of lowering your blood pressure and > headaches > and as mine was 110 over 60 it was already low so I chose not > to take > the drugs. > > Has anyone taken simmilar drugs and how efective are they. > They hope > to try me on them on friday 4 days before my Hellers Myotomy to > try > and clear My E before surgery. > > Pippa > (Northants< England)
