Guest guest
Carol: I did not mean only behavior as in a child acting out. I also meant variability in level of functioning, variability in attention and in abilty to perform many language tasks. , CCC-SLP > Hi All > This is Carol.....sorry about confusion.....I meant unpredictableness as far as ability to function or skill level, not in behavior problems. I appreciate 's and G's responses as they have very valuable information but when I said we have spent years trying to get a connection I meant we had already gone through all those items. I think Nat really understood what I was saying and I didn't think you were " ranting " Nat! I completely feel with you! Thankyou for your wise advice about coming to a point at which you have a level of acceptance that we may not in our lifetime understand all there is to know about the brain and why our children behave/function as they do. I think it is good to keep searching and any time we hear of something new to try it out but deep inside, yes, I think we must learn to enjoy our children as they are and care for them as best we can and put the bulk of our energy into that at present. Of course I would like to know the connections but so far none of the things mentioned here or in other readings are it for my son's particular brain! We really are very intricate beings. And like you said, the frustration for our children must be enormous!!! What a battle they have to live and keep their spirits up when their brain is not functioning consistently! May God bless you as you continue to give your best energy and love to your son and may He give you extra strength to do it! Carol
