Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who welcomed me to the group! I'm really happy to have found you! Well, I had my manometry yesterday...I guess it could have been worse. I threw up twice as the doctor was trying to guide the scope down my throat, but other than that (and feeling very uncomfortable) it went okay. He said I definately have achalasia...and now I will be waiting for the balloon dilation to be scheduled, hopefully within the next couple weeks. Just thought I'd update the group. Hope everyone is doing well. Doreen Michigan
Guest guest
Why after surgery???? I had an open Oct 24th Didn't have that just had a Ba Swallow In Dec Dr Richter said a year after surgery I might have "other" tests I will not have a manometry Had one before surgery I am 72 years old and pulled the tube out So there -- Re: Manometry That manometry is pure he!! My son (13) just had that done again on Thursday. He had to have it cause they needed to follow up from his operation on Oct 27 to see how things were working but his DR said that he would only need barrium swallows after this yearly so that was good to hear cause already said NEVER AGAIN!!!I realize the importance of the test but I could not imagine having to go through it.Watching him was bad enough but he tuffed it out and got through it.They did give him a little liquid valium this time and that helped but not enough to convince him to do the ph in the same sitting!Best of luck to you and I am here if you have any questions.Take care-Tonia >> After you have had one, do the doctors really need to ever do it again, > I mean when you are broke you are broke, didnt think this could ever > get better, arent we basically paralyzed? Guest guest
Hi - Pulled the tube out huh? I can see you now you are so bad! (he he)That was just about where was during the ph test .I am not sure why they do it after surgery. This was actually his second since surgery.1st was before surgery and then this one.Not really sure why maybe to monitor the pressure afterwards is my guess.Hope you are doing well-Tonia > > > > After you have had one, do the doctors really need to ever do it > again, > > I mean when you are broke you are broke, didnt think this could > ever > > get better, arent we basically paralyzed? Guest guest
Hey there! I have had the manometry test 2 times, once before Surgery and once when I had the 24 hr pH test 6 months after surgery. I asked the doctor why I had to have the manometry again when I just had it not 7 months before. He said they had to do it again so they knew where to place the pH probe for the 24 hour test. The manomety didn't take as long as the first time, but it still wasn't fun. All of this is hard for an adult, I can't imagine going through this at ' age. Al I keep saying is that all these horrible tests and surgery have made me a stonger person, I feel like I can take on anything!!!! a ln St. Louis > > >> > > After you have had one, do the doctors really need to ever do it > > again, > > > I mean when you are broke you are broke, didnt think this could > > ever > > > get better, arent we basically paralyzed?
