Guest guest Posted August 9, 2006 Report Share Posted August 9, 2006 Hello everyone, I've been through three balloon dilation and was wondering if anyone who has gone through this procedure and what their results are. So far my third one was the charm, the first two did nothing for me. But this time around my food is staying down and I have no vomiting, I even gained some weight back. Here is some background information, I've has achalasia for approximately five years but in the last 1 1/2 my symptoms progressed and I lost on average 60 pounds. My first symptom was waking up in the middle of the night with chest pain that radiated to my back and my doctors related it to stress for the first 3 years. I got pregnant with my second child and I started to vomit and my food would get stuck in my throat. I was then told I has acid reflux and that until I has the baby they couldn't do anything. Once my son was born, I was sent for test that showed I have achalasia. The second doctor that I was sent to didn't have a glue what he was doing with this disorder and just wasted his and my time. I was then sent to a surgeon who was unfamiliar with this disorder and sent me to do more test. He referred me to a fantastic doctor who is conducting a clinical study and who is knowledgeable with achalasia. My only worry is that it will come back.
