-- Dr. Nasser Altorki - Thoracic Surgeon

My gastroenterologist has recommended I look into Dr. Nasser Altorki, a thoracic surgeon, at Cornell Medical, NY Hospital, to perform my surgery, possibly called a "Pexy Esophageal Diverticulum."

What is Pexy Esophageal Diverticulum CARRIE

,

Dr. Altorki is the one that did a very

successful esophagectomy for Carol, who used to post very frequently on the

board but hasn’t been around for at least the past year. I have a few

pretty lengthy emails from her in which she said she had an open surgery and

was actually back to work in 8 weeks (part time). She had nothing but good

things to say, including that she wished she had done it sooner and it had

changed her life for the better. Not to say it was easy, but you get what I am

saying.

My understanding is that he is highly

regarded in the field, and if you recall a few months ago I emailed about 7

well known thoracic surgeons for advice on my situation and he was one of them.

He did respond very quickly (one of the first, within a day).

I would definitely look into him. I am not

familiar with the surgery you mention below……please keep me posted

on it as maybe it’s an option for both of us.

We should compare drain pipes…..LOL

He is in our website's

database, without too much information. I have read about him online, and

so far, so good.

Has anybody heard of

him, by personal experience, or from research? Thank you.
