Guest guest
Hi Everybody, My Toupet fundoplication is scheduled for bright and early this upcoming Tuesday morning, so if you folks have some encouraging things to say, bring it on! Since this is probably going to be an open procedure because of my previous myotomy, I'll be in the hospital for 7 - 10 days. I feel like a frequent flier at that place, since I was just there in December for 23 days for that lung abscess. I'm ready to do this, but I'm older and wiser now re surgery and have a pretty good idea of what this is going to be like--wish I could fast forward to, say, the middle of July! Guest guest
I haven't had surgery yet for " A " so I don't know what it is like firsthand. So, I just wanted to say that I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as possibly and that the surgery improves your symptoms. When you feel up to it, let us know how you are doing. Did you have a fundoplication with your myotomy or is this your first one? Good luck! Guest guest
The best of luck for Tuesday. I understand completely your notion of fast-forwarding time. I have had days or weeks like that when I would have been very willing to be able to press a button and miss those days out in my consciousness. But I have noticed something very unusual. During those unwanted days inevitably something good happens that you wouldn't have wanted to miss. Perhaps you will meet somebody special or experience something that makes a difference to your life. If you go into this believing that there is more to be positive about than to fear, then maybe you will be more reluctant to wipe away those days. Just a thought, hoping to help calm your feelings at this time. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks much for the kind thoughts. No, I didn't have a fundoplication the first time around. I asked my surgeon about it, but in 1995, it wasn't clear that this was always such a good idea. Since I am, as my doctors keep telling me, " an interesting case, " it's still not clear that this is going to work for me, but it's a better next step than an esophagectomy. > > > > Hi Everybody, > > > > My Toupet fundoplication is scheduled for bright and early this > upcoming Tuesday > > morning, so if you folks have some encouraging things to say, > bring it on! > > > > Since this is probably going to be an open procedure because of my > previous myotomy, I'll > > be in the hospital for 7 - 10 days. > > > > I feel like a frequent flier at that place, since I was just there > in December for 23 days for > > that lung abscess. > > > > I'm ready to do this, but I'm older and wiser now re surgery and > have a pretty good idea of > > what this is going to be like--wish I could fast forward to, say, > the middle of July! > > >
