From our sister station on , GERD support, by an incredible coincidence, came this post yesterday.

Message: 1 Date: Tue, 21 Mar 2006 21:54:45 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time) From: "RobynsTagDesigns" <robynstagdesigns@...>Subject: NO Burping??Does anyone have a problem with NOT burping? Since my swallowing issues began 3 yrs ago I don't seem to burp anymore unless I force them.. I do NOT burp naturally like everyone else does.. Once in a while in a RARE while one will sneak up on me and come out and it feels SO good because it lets all the pressure out, but that only happens once a month or so if that. The rest of the time I have to force these small little burps which bring no relief and then I have to sit and feel and listen to whatever it is girgle backdown into my stomach.. It almost sounds like and feels like if water weretrying to get through a VERY clogged pipe (perhaps the Lower Esophageal Sphincter) .. Anyone else have this problemand if so has a doctor been able to tell you what it is?Thanks :)

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they burp! Perhaps Robyn has Achalasia and does not know it yet.

a, it sounds as if your being deprived the ability of burping is causing you a complex. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Once you master controlling the flow of air both into and out of your body, I'm sure you will be able to burp once again like Cindi the sailor!
