It apears that my esophagus has returned to it's normal size or close to it.

I was not even aware that this is possible especially considering I have

never had any treatment! A year and a half ago I had a chest x-ray and was

told that my E was " grossly dialated " . A few weeks ago I had a barium

swallow requested by a new Dr i am seeing and it showed that my E was no

longer enlarged. This was further confirmed yesterday when I had another

chest x-ray. The Dr. said it looked like normal size from what he could

see. When I had the Barium Swallow done I was also told the les was opening

but only a little. This is definitely good news considering that I was

expecting the worst. I was expecting to hear that by this time it was

sigmoid in shape at the very least. I have been daignosed with A about 6

yrs ago and like I said I have had no treatment. Luckily for me things have

goten better except for sleeping at night. I have certain foods I stay away

from and I use a wedge to sleep. A few nights ago I had a really bad night

after eating mac n'cheese so this is one more thing I need to add to my

list. I have pneumonia hence the recent chest x-ray, likely due to

aspiration. the swallowing thing is pretty goodand I have learned to adapt

moslyb Imay still opt for surgery as I would love to be able to sleep lying

flat again and I am tired of dragging that wedge around when I am sleeping

away from home. Has anyone else had their E go back to normal size?
