Dear group, I have been quite depressed of late due to recent diagnosis of achalasia - I have asked numerous questions on this forum but have only gotten one reply - (I fell guilty as my symptoms are not as bad as some). After going into school med clinic to ask for referral to Mayo or Cleveland for surgery, my doctor was surprised that I hadnt heard from either the manometry or GI doctor since my test (when they told me while doing the test I had achalasia, but they would need some time to study it further). Today my GI doctor called me and said I do NOT have achalasia but DO have 'evolving achalasia' (which Ive never heard of). In his experience (living in a state of 600,000 I doubt its much), evolving achalasia almost always turns into full blown. The difference currently being, i have ZERO peristalsis, but my LES pressure is normal (not tight) at least it was when i took the test. He now wants to do a CT scan on

my chest cavity to rule out cancer or some such as a cause of secondary achalasia. I told him I assumed that EVERYONE who has achalasia at one point probably had 'evolving achalasia' - he said that was right and if CT scan ruled out cancer, I should just wait for things to deteriorate to have surgery, or that I might just stay like this. Long winded post to this question..=> have any of you heard or been diagnosed with 'evolving achalasia'? Does anyone stay in this condition forever or does it always go to full blown A? What should I do? Thanks in advance. Nate in VTachalasia wrote: There are 12 messages in this issue.Topics in this digest:1. Re: SandiFrom: " Jo Blauer" 2. Re: a's Belly ScarsFrom:
