I think sometimes we are being "marketed to" when they answer our questions about 'how many have you done.' Maybe sometimes they mean their hospital or group... but that could be very misleading if that surgeon just came to the hospital. Maybe we should word it very carefully so they don't have wiggle room. They might mean just their general procedures on the esophagus... probably have to nail them down to within a certain time period and exactly the heller myotomy, not fundos for GERD etc. When I was questioning surgeons I sensed a slight hesitation and wiggle room sometimes in their answers but didn't make them 'fess up like my kids. I was intimidated, but at the same time I wasn't comfortable with their answers being totally informative. You might be comparing apples to oranges if you don't ask the question very specifically. Just a thought.

Sandy in So Cal....If you couldn't tell, St. Pat's is my favorite holiday.... no gifts, no cards, I'm not even having a party, not invited to one, seldom drink alcohol, but it is the perfect holiday because of all those things. No obligations, and minimal marketing shoved at us. I'll fluff my red hair and drive by Wayne airport and pretend I'm Maureen O'Hara. I'll buy cheap corned beef and boil the crap out of it so my kids have a clue about corned beef, then I'll have fish ready on the side. My husband will think the corned beef is good because he loves anything that mooed.... See... perfect holiday, not even family photos to remember the table setting.
